It's been a great thread though, and a great SOTC. Not just the usual suspects.

I also kind of like how there's a black bay 36 lost in the land of the giants!

Breitling for me but I'm sure I'm wrong and the Panerai is probably the better watch by miles.

PAM then PAM in the final..
If you don’t like the thread don’t comment! Been a great idea and loved the thread.

This one is a really tough call. The Breitling should take it for me as I love the yellow dial and it’s a perfect summer watch. But then the Panerai just appeals to me all over.

Will go all the way to penalties for me. Then just and only just the Breitling just takes it.

    ^ this ^

I like SOTC threads, and this format just makes it all the more entertaining.

A Rolex is bound to win - not my cuppa-tea - but they are the World's largest luxury watch co for a reason. Takes nowt away from a good idea by OP.

Having recently tried on Nev's 44m ti luminor I have to go Panerai here. Love the colour and feel of it.

    Breitling again for me.

Must be a summer thing because I've never liked these until now, in that dial colour. It's great.

Great idea for a thread. Maybe there should be an annual championship where everyone can enter. They submit 1 watch in to the first round, if they win the vote, they go through and have to select a different watch from their collection until the final. Watch top trumps!

You must be new here (I have no idea, I can't see profiles on this). It's just the way this place is these days.
There's still plenty of other amazing watches to appreciate & talk about.

The PAM for me, I love titanium - but not convinced Breitbling can hack it at this level (despite me loving the yellow).

    So here we are......the final

My most expensive watch v the watch I like the most ( changes week to week!!!)

The crowds are gathering, will the hot favourite take a predicable win?....who knows...

    Rolex SD43 v Panerai 351

The lack of a cyclops and the more traditional brand size makes this an easy victory for the underdog as the Panerai romps away with it.

The SD43 wins this with a solid 1-0 victory, having started the tournament as a clear favourite for the title...like Mourinho’s Chelsea, a solid spine, ruthless efficiency and the opposition generally hate it, but respect what it’s achieved

Great idea Chris, enjoyed the ‘tournament’!

As expected for a final a very close one for me. Rolex pulls ahead as the perfect, IMHO, "only" Rolex, but having recently tried a 44mm ti luminor makes it sooo tight.
Sd43 sneaks it with a goal from a corner in Fergie time.

The PAM knows it has to be on top of its game to win this, it doesn't give an inch. Rolex has had a relatively easy path to the final and they are pulled in by their own hype.

This is a repeat of the 2014 World Cup semi final. Rolex is Brazil.

    7-1 to Panerai.

I'm bored-into-a-coma by most Rolex divers, so Glorious Victory to the Panerai (plus it's damn nice).

Very, very difficult, but the Rolex just edges it for me. It's a go anywhere, one watch does it all that tips the scales for me.

The Rolex may be a bit boring, and just a big sub (I have owned two), but it does wear well and I still like it, so that’s the winner for me

  32. #332
Panerai for me, an SD with a cyclops just isnt right.

Panerai for me. Rolex too bloated and it shows - legs starting to get heavy this far into the tournament and the fitter Pam keeps it tight for a famous victory.

Panerai for me. Not a fan of the SD43, I always think the face is out of proportion to the case and bezel.

Panerai, by some margin. It’s a beautiful watch with an elegance that the bloated Rolex can only dream of.

I’m a Panerai fan BUT not there are much better models than the 351 unfortunately. Also I just saw one of the SD 43’s out in the wild today and it looked Goood.
3-2 win for the Seadweller for me

    Great competition, thank you

Great idea for a thread and lots of fun comments. I’m torn so it goes to penalties and Beckham slips on the loose turf to give the Panerai a surprise win
