Help with a registration number (poss no MOT / Car Tax)

A friend of mine is having problems with a van blocking his driveway, although it's moved up and down the road every now and again. He wants to see if it can be towed away but the DVLA website which allows you to check MOT's and tax etc is having a problem finding the vehicle. Could the lettering on the plates have been messed with in anyway to disguise the true identity?

Help with a registration number (poss no MOT / Car Tax)

I had a similar problem with a car once, I dragged it out of the way with my van and it’s tyres went flat. It never happened again.

I had a similar problem last year with a lad in the next road parking/dumping his crashed damaged cars outside my house.
When he got to three cars I checked online and one had no MOT/ insurance and the other two had no tax, reported it and the police paid him a visit.
This had no effect and nothing happened until the lockdown when he disappeared and so did his cars, I assume he was renting and went back to mum and dad.
    Good luck.

OP...has your friend actually asked the owner to move it?
Might be way easier and less confrontational than dragging it down the road?

    No MOT

is not an offence which would result in the car being towed. Police won’t be interested unless they stop it being driven and DVLA will only remove untaxed vehicles. If it is blocking his driveway and the drive has a lowered kerb the police CAN remove it but usually try to fob you off saying it’s a local authority matter. It amounts to an unnecessary obstruction
