    Whatever happened to.......

................. the "oo" sound in the word "to"? Most of the politicians and media seem to have replaced it with "ter" for some reason! And don't get me started on starting sentences with "And" and "But" because my kids (children) have already explained to me that it is okay to do so! :) (So I did!) Which leads me on to folks starting to answer a question with the word "So"! Grrrrrrrrrr!

But is a poor way to start a sentence. So I don't do it.

Not uncommon for a sentence to end with but in Scotland.

And to really ramp up the irritation factor you can always bolt KNOW WHAT I MEAN? onto the end of every sentence. Caps just a freebie

What makes me twitch is people starting each sentence with 'So'. By the time they have done this half a dozen times in a row I'm making like Alf Ippititmus.

In South Yorkshire we used to hear "Thanorsarameyan". My Geordie uncle used to end every sentence with "tho but"!

    Totally agree.

Can't be worse than the old Scouse favourite 'so I turned round and said' then 'she turned round to me and said' just paints a lovely picture of people spinning round whilst talking.

I've heard that down here, so not just a scouse thing anymore.

What about the modern trend for some people to say haitch instead of aitch?

When was the T removed from the middle of twenty? All TV presenters seem to have lost the ability to pronounce it correctly and my young boys even hate it.

There appears to be a 13th month now: Febuary, or is it Febary. It's hard to tell.

Don’t start me on how Americans pronounce mirror, and as for aloooominum why don’t they end it with IUM like most of the periodic table.

I don’t think it’s a modern thing, I remember a girl in my infant or junior school saying way back when, used to drive me insane!
I’ve never been very tolerant, even as a little one

    And,
To me it seems like spelling isn’t that important in school nowadays, as long as the meaning is correct it doesn’t seem to matter.
I’ve always thought it important but my girls just don’t get it.
As for text speak/talk, another thing I don’t like and very rarely do. My old mum does though and she’s 71!
