That's a really lovely watch.
Definitely service time though!
Hi all
I've had this old watch for more than twenty years, It suddenly stopped around ten or so years ago and got consigned to the back of my sock drawer (Wrapped in a sealed plazzie bag!)
I just was reading an article about them and got it out, I removed the caseback and was surprised that the AS 1700/01 still looked like new!!, I tickled the balance back and forth a couple of times and it suddenly set off brilliantly with a good swing of the balance!!
It's been running now for around 25 minutes and is keeping time so far with the Bulova Snorkel I recently bought from a member on here!, I feel sure that it's ready for a service though!!
I'm well chuffed that it even fired up, It seemed like the balance was glued in, Whatever was holding it must have been ejected with the movement!!
