I think there have been a few people who’ve modded to acrylic.

You being the spearhead for it :) … I think the last I remember seeing was that you acquired a gilt Everest. Have you plans to mod it if so?

I sold the gilt dial to a member here a few weeks after I got it (unmodded). The gilt dial was a lovely thing, but I think I preferred the tool watch look of the standard dial.

I haven’t seen the gilt in person but from seeing photos I think I would agree.

Hey guys, on the black dial, are you guys liking the white lettering more or the older ghost black lettering?

Ghost lettering for me, I like that you can’t really see it but then suddenly it appears in the right light.

All models look great to me, I’d be happy with any. The MK1 lettering also has its charm but in terms of what I’d choose if I could decide, it would be with the white lettering. The ghost black is nice but always felt the white lettering would add more symmetry and it does do that for me. Plus it’s one less shade of black on the dial and I prefer that.

yeah you guys are right, all versions look good! Days I like the ghost, days I want more symmetry then I feel the white font is distracting....im just all over the place. But end of day all look good. I was going to see my new in box ghost version but maybe ill keep it?

Yes I’d just enjoy the one you own, you weren’t sure about keeping it though if I remember rightly. Have you been wearing it much or still wearing the Zeno? The white text will probably make the dial feel a little fuller than the ghost text but I guess it depends how important the symmetry is. The ghost text dial is still very symmetrical though. As I said, both great imo

Yeah I have the Zeno and its great, love the look of it. I bought the Smiths but never wore it.....now im back to itching for a new Explorer but dont want to justify the cost....and now thinking, I have the smiths, just use that. Like I said, some days the ghost looks better, then other days the white looks better, Im so indecisive :) And as much as I want the Explorer, its a bit too blingy for me, wish they had a 1016 style dial which is why I really love the Zeno and Smiths. The only thing I dont like about the zeno is the thickness. Its a bit chunky at 14.5mm vs 11.4 of the Smiths. I already have too many watches, and thats part of the problem too :)

Edit: Do think the font on white lettering should change just a little, its a bit 'bold'

I get you with being indecisive. Hum I don’t think it looks too bold. Maybe you’d like something slightly different. The new tropical dial commando maybe? Then you could just keep the Zeno and sell your Everest. Choices choices

Thanks. I’m still looking for the right jubilee. I think I read somewhere that the uncle Seiko fits the Smiths?

Yes I’ve heard the same, I’m just not sure which model exactly. I once tried my sarb033/35 jubilee but it didn’t seem to fit. Could be I didn’t try hard enough though.

The best would be Eddie’s jubilee when it’s available. If you can get it.

That didn’t take long. After the above post on Wednesday one was listed on SC on Thursday and is on my wrist on Saturday.

It’s definitely one of those watches that changes colours in different lights. The dial is more a shade of cream or egg shell rather than white. The frames of the hands look almost black in most settings, but occasionally you look at them at a certain angle and they are very blue. The riveted bracelet is fine, I like it. Early impressions are that it’s a good looking watch.

I think this would be on my list of next purchases. This or one of the newer waffle dials. I have the commando but I’m not sure the faux patina is for me. I do like it but somehow think it’s too cleanly done. So reminds me more of a fume dial. And less of a patinated dial.

    batch diff

Hey I'm just wondering what is the difference between my previous batch white Everest and the recent one.
I've found the logo on the dial, crown and the caseback. And the lovely non-riveted bracelet /w buttoned clasp (finally).
    Have I missed something?

Hand length has varied over the different incarnations but I think Eddie has been at the current lengths for at least the last batch or two.

I thought of this model too but just didn’t have the “thing” smiths or Zeno do. But still looks nice.

Although the stock bracelet is of excellent quality, I’m not a fan of the rivets so I swapped it for an old folded link bracelet I had. It has a flip lock clasp and it tapers to 16mm at the clasp. I think it gives the watch a cleaner look and the taper adds to the vintage period of the watch.

Last pic is on the rivet bracelet for comparison.

I really like the look of this model especially the crown, I personally feel like the current Everest version would benifit from a crown of this size and style as opposed to currrent Hamiltion field iteration, just my opinion of course.

Damn, you're right. I've just compared my previous batch white dial (purchesed back in 2020 H2) with silver jubilee and concluded there is hands diff. Hour hand is definitely longer, and minute hand seems to be a hair shorter. I wished never asked, because I must go to the market for shooting a recent batch white dial as I like identical watches in the collection except color.

They almost got it right, but I don't like the mixed white and yellow print

For me the dial is great. I’m not so keen on the case height. These guys have a really thick case back on their watches. For me it spoils it.

I bought a few pairs of shoes for the Smiths Everest 2 openings ago and they just arrived. I must say, they look lovely.

This is the brown Timefactors aviator strap.

This is the Timefactors black braided NATO, worn in 2 different styles.
