    Alloy wheel choice

    I like anthracite wheels, thoughts?

I'd go for number 4 but then again it depends on the car they are going on.

Number 4 first choice. Number 3 second choice but as said, depends on the car.

MX5 maybe number 1 would suit it more but number 4 is still the best looking

    3 or 4

    4 if it's new shape, 3 if it's older

I had my Honda wheels refurb in anthracite after herself had a wee moment with a kerb, dark colours don't show the brake dust so much and car is mid grey so a bit of a contrast. There are selling sites who let you see your prefered/various wheels imaged on your car.
First though other than colour are weight and ease of cleaning.

Very much this. Cheap aftermarket alloy wheels are rather heavy and on an MX5 it will have an impact.

MX5 No 4 I thinks - probably also the easiest to clean

Number 4 for me. Anthracite works well, although it does depend on the colour of the car they would be going on.

We used this company who were brilliant for our Merc and ship, but were local enough for us to collect.

    http://the-wheel-shop.co.uk/

Look at their sister site to wheel config

    http://configurator.automotivewheels.co.uk/

A few people have asked if ours were non standard on our MX5

4 and 3 look the nicest to me, though one has 5 bolt-holes and the other 4... make sure you check what you need!

    These were standard

The only decent wheel there is number 3, the Speedline, the others will be heavy replica wheels

Not sure if they fit yours, but might be worth finding out.

We were very pleased when we saw the wheels as we ordered the car unseen and not driven, I did sit in the one the dealer had in the showroom.

They only had about 2 weeks to get the car in as we were off to Germany for Easter, we had an agreement that if it were a no show we’d have their demo car. Well we put about 1,000 miles on it 1.5ltr RF, we much prefer our 2ltr soft top.

8.5 kilos, I've no ideas if that's regarded as heavy

They don't show brake dust as much as polished rims.

These ones, for example, are nearer 6.5kg.

I was going to say #3 but since you quoted the weight. I'll now say look elsewhere and save some grams.
If I recall, the OEM wheels on the mk3 are 7.7kg and all that extra unsprung weight, over and above, will affect the ride and thus the handling and thus the enjoyment.

With all respect, they're relatively small items. They'll be far from competitive on alloys of any kind I think...

I prefer the Enkeis. OZ wheels are nice but for me the Enkeis suit the car.

Also Enkei used to make a factory option for the mx-5 don't know if they still do.

I always thought the OZ wheels were a few ££ above the cheap stuff.

Are they that much cheaper for a set?

Ultralite F1's. An Enkei copy can be had for around a ton each. Slightly heavier than Enkei and OEM but a good price nonetheless if you're not track driving your car and want the look.
    Bofi Racing sell them.

Absolutely true re. colour. I had mine stripped and powder coated in Anthracite once the original silver (inevitably) started to flake off. Same colour contrast with the body as your car, so easy to clean and care for, but they always do look clean!

Powder coating is an option, but I've got to factor in buying a spate set of wheels and tyres to be able to do it

Place near me does a drop your car off and collect 2/3 days later service, I just stuck the car up on blocks in the garage for a couple of days whilst the wheels were done.
