    Sinn U1 DS

New limited edition Sinn U1 DS. Fully tegimented case and bracelet. Have to admit, it's a nice looking watch. I love a bit of decorative grinding...

    Thoughts?

    Love it. Bit big mind.

Quite a nice dial to be honest, dark and legible but with some extra visual interest.
Would be happy to see it in the flesh, when the dial gets hit by some sunlight!

    Why a Sellita ? WHY ?

They have progressively been replacing ETA with sellita the past few years, it's probably going to be for all their watches in a fairly near future...

Is the Sellita no go compared to the ETA? I'm not up to speed on the differences.

I had a U1 SDR a few years ago. It had the Sellita movement and was accurate to within a couple of seconds a day. I am more than happy with that.
I had sold it on due to it's size in the end which was a shame as I really liked the looks of it.

It seems like it's a never ending debate...
Most people defend ETA since they're the original producers, the sellita being a legal clone, and also other reasons more or less based on facts.

If we put aside the theory, just experience wise, I had/have sellita movements, mainly in a yema superman, Sinn 104, and some christopher ward watches, and never had a problem with it.
I do like an ETA because they can say they've been reliable for decades, but I wouldn't say a sellita is a deal breaker.

I think if sinn uses it, it must be quite decent (I have trust in sinn).

For a bit of nuance though, an Ad complained to me in the past about the fact quite a few sinn with the sellita equivalent of the valjoux 7750 had issues and apparently he didn't want to sell these anymore because of this.

Nice, but I’ll keep my blue dial version.
