    New SOTC 2021

Following various ins and outs I thought I would share my current SOTC which is the best it has ever been and I am very happy with (apart from one more possible ‘upgrade’ I have in mind!)

    L to R Top -

    Submariner date 41mm,
    Speedmaster (1861 - 2016)
    JLC Reverso
    Tudor Pepsi GMT

    L to R Bottom -

    Zenith Chronomaster 42mm classic cars
    Monaco Calibre 11
Tag Heuer SEL chrono (had since mid 90’s)
    Seamaster (previous generation)

Some predictable icons in there perhaps but covers all bases for me now, having downsized the collection. Thinking of swapping out the Zenith for the new Zenith Chronomaster Sport 41mm white dial, once the hype has died down and lockdown is over.

Since being on here I’ve learned never to say that is it, the final SOTC, because it very rarely is.

Hope this was of interest and please share your SOTC’s, which I always find enjoyable and reassuring that I haven’t gone overboard with mine.

That's a lovely little collection you have there, although that upside down Monaco has my spidey senses twitching.

What size is the Zenith? Looks much larger than I would have expected if I had seen it without the others.

Many thanks and well spotted. That’s what happens when you put two watch boxes back to back to try and get a group photo - I forgot to turn it right way up! The left hand crown throws you as well. See new photo.

The Zenith is 42mm but wears much larger because it is all dial and is relatively thin for a chrono. I have 8 inch wrists so can pull it off but that is another reason I might look to switch it. The new 41mm model with a bezel is a perfect size, and should fit me better than the 38mm which is the smaller size of the El Primero as you might know.

Many thanks. The Reverso is Automatic with a 24 hour am/pm Night/Day sub dial but not duo face, so solid caseback. Grande Reverso case size which I think is one size up from the grande taille which I found to be on the small side for me. Glad you like it.

Thank you - I like different brands (even Tag who seemed to be looked down on) and a bit of variety. The white panda dial of the new Zenith would further increase the variety of dial colours which are predominantly black or grey at the moment (which I generally prefer).

Very nice collection. There are a lot of outright icons in those boxes. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy it.

What’s the reference number for the Reverso, OP?

Of course. It’s 3808420 Grande Reverso Night Day Automatic, now discontinued.

Thanks Dave. I know what you mean, the Monaco is very cool and I love the hands and that matte blue dial. The box sapphire crystal is really nice, though adds quite a bit to the height. Mark

Yes indeed. Matte dial, contrasting hands, crystal, a compelling combination.

I peaked at only 12 watches but that was enough to freak me out a bit justifying that number and guilt over ones not worn.

8 to me is an ideal number, as you rightly say enough watches to provide variety, cover most bases and keep the interest.

Also, quality not quantity was something else I learned for me, but there’s no right or wrong of course. I would struggle to trim it anymore.

I also have loads of straps which also maintains interest.
