    New brown dial mini Alpinist

I didn't know this was going to be released - available from Monday:

    https://www.pleasanceandharper.co.uk...atch-spb211j1/

Not sure why the watch on a NATO costs the same as the green dial on the bracelet (both are £10 more than on the leather strap).

Brown dials aren't normally my thing but I do like that the colours on the dial are consistently golden (hands, Seiko logo, sand numerals and indices) - something that isn't consistent on the other dial colours.

I've never been a big fan of the Alpainist, but I quite like that.

Seiko do seem to be pushing out new Alpinist models on a regular basis.

I do like that. A bit different from the others released last year.

some of the alpinist being released at the moment have been stunning,
my favourite is the new 2021 grey ltd edition is beautiful, these have always been
value for money to be honest, though they have crept up in price lately, not long ago
you could get the classic green dial for under £300

I like the blue dial variant and this is a nice option too.

    Given the size its tempting.

That is a looker! I have the blue version and these are lovely watches, this one is a bit more special again though.

It’s nice but for a very similar look, I’d go for a presage SRPF43J1, brown cocktail time. About 200 quid cheaper and a much lovelier dial. Only down side is it’s a 4R movement and that bright white date window!

Picture below taken from a C24 advert (not mine!), not sure if that’s allowed. I’ll delete if not.

I know what you mean, I've looked long and hard at these. The dials are indeed gorgeous and they were available for £300ish in various sales around New Year, excellent value.
But for me the slab case sides compared to the Alpinist (not my photos, pinched from Fratellos, I think its okay), lack of lume on the SRPF, and the screw down crown and 200m WR on the Alpinist means the Alpinist would still be the one.

The case design on the alpinist is definitely a step up! I have two cocktail times, and quite frankly it's just about the dial, the case is disappointing

Indeed, some Seiko 5's such as the Snk375 have a nicer case imo.

Snkl23 as well for example, the lines are a bit more refined.
The cocktail time cases are just the typical european style case from the 60's, nothing special about it, it lacks a bit of seiko identity

Have to agree that the cocktail time range is all about the dial

If the topic hadn't said that the dial was actually brown, I would definitely have though it was the regular green version. Would you say it has a green-ish tint, or am I just being colourblind?
