Seiko 140th anniversary limited editions (more new ones!)

    Another round of anniversary watches.
Not quite sure if I like the colours or not - https://www.seikowatches.com/global-...140th_limited/

Nothing there floats my boat, the photos make them look rather bland. I do like the texture on the Seiko 5 Bezel though.

Nice colours but not sure they work in the chosen watches. Could just be the digital renders make them all look a bit flat and lifeless.

For me, that combination of white and sky blue seems a bit dressy (eg marine chronometer / Nomos tangente etc). The chosen watches are quite toolish so there’s a dichotomy to the design which jars.

Seems positively perverse to equip them with sapphire crystals and "super-hard coatings", but still use hilariously-easily-scratched aluminium bezels in most of them (except Astron). The GMT sure is purty tho.

I like the Astron and find myself looking at the ones on the Jura website. There doesn’t seem to be much interest in Astrons though.

I'm liking the proportions of that Prospex diver. Looks like it will sit very well on the wrist.

Is that the same case as the SPB143J1?

The closest on the seiko page to mentioning the pressage is a GMT (other than it being printed on the dial) are the words "Calendar-linked time difference adjustment function"

Do seiko even have a marketing department?

Same case - looks rather good here

The Pressage GMT initially caught my eye then thought why have they put the calendar in that sub dial - spoils it completely. Shame.

Does it have a stainless steel bezel like the SPB143? It looks a lot better there than on the website

My guess is it will be some kind of lacquered steel/aluminium given Seikos aversion to using ceramic at this price point. The bezel on the SPB187 looks similarly reflective but that one has been confirmed as non ceramic

The 213 looks quite nice. Not fussed on the others though.
It's just a matter of time...

Love this. If the bezel is an inky dark blue, I’d be all over it. The bright blue in the renders turned me off.

Hard to tell, need to see more images in the wild to judge whether this picture is accurate or a trick of the light.

Yes. This shade of blue is much better.

    Agreed.
I am quite tempted by one of these new 40mm 62mas reissues, I had two of the 42mm reissues which I loved, just came to the conclusion they were too big for me.
The 40mm would work, but it’s disappointing they’ve basically doubled in price since the first reissue.

It does look pretty meh in the renders but there are a couple of pictures floating around like the above where it looks very nice. Need to see more to be sure
