Looking for a source for some vintage draw pulls, help appreciated.

I'm restoring my dads engineers wood tool box which must be well over 50 years old and I need a few draw pulls/knobs, I have checked/searched round with no luck so if anyone knows a source and could point me in the direction it would be appreciated.

    The top dia is .500"

    Bottom dia is .405"

    O/A length is .412"

Please note all dimensions are imperial.

For stuff like this (I’ve done quite a bit of vintage furniture restoration) I just go straight to eBay. I’m sure you will find something suitable.

Edit- the pic didn’t appear when I first replied. They might be quite hard to match. But a good woodturner could replicate them.

It'll probably be more successful to search Ebay with 'drawer' rather than 'draw'.

You'll have to explain draw pull, because that doesn't exist in English - and I'm thinking draw knob is not what you're looking for.

    Thanks

ok lets try drawer pull or drawer knob or knob for a drawer or just a small vintage wood knob.

Hows that ? explanation enough ?

ps: Where I live we call a drawer a draw and a knob a nob :)

I imagine they are with being vintage and perhaps 60 years old or more, plenty of nobs/knobs about but not the correct ones.

If it was me, which it isn’t, I would replace all the knobs with a vintage set, rather than trying to replace 1 or 2.

    Good luck in your search.

That may well be the easiest plan. How many are there in total? A photo of the entire piece would be interesting.

Its in pieces at the moment because it has been drying out for a long time after getting very wet. I have seven knobs/nobs and it needs ten, if I can't find any originals I will turn four near replicas out of brass.

Why not turn them out of wood?

If only there was someone on TZUK who made pens or similar?

I’m guessing that as it’s made from quarter sawn oak, it’s probably a Neslein or similar and as such may have had brass with inlaid MOP drawer pulls
If you can turn brass, crack on and make some out of solid
The stuff you’ll buy will be sh*te in comparison
Nice old engineers chest, as you may guess, I have several.....

Thanks, I have been advised the box wood could be one of these, quarter sawn oak, white oak or red oak, the above knob/nobs are the originals but I will turn four replicas out of solid brass.

Definitely turn your own if you can! It will also make it your own, and connect back to the original purpose. Should be a cracking tool box.
