Pretty much anytime in the last 30 years,
Hi all,
I bought this Moore and Wright dividers from ebay as NOS recently.
It was unopened and in great condition.
There is no date or serial number on it apart from "Moore and Wright Sheffield England" engraved on it.
Does anybody know about these? Any idea when it was produced approximately?
Regards

Thanks for the responses.

Neill took over Moore & Wright in 1970, so they're post that date.

Still being sold as Moore and Wright https://www.amazon.co.uk/Moore-Wrigh.../dp/B00FFB0CMK though slightly different knob on end of thread!
Here it says in 1970 Neill bought "Moore and Wright" and in 1995 the company was renamed as "Spear and Jackson". I wonder whether that means this was produced between 1970 and 1995?
I'd say 80's, I remember that packaging. When I started my apprenticeship in 81, my tool chest was gradually filled up with M&W tools. They were very good quality but also quite expensive.
I still have my first 6" Rabone & Chesterman steel ruler purchased with my first pay packet! The remainder of my pay that week went on birds and booze...
no barcode too so i'd guess pre 85 ish

I brought the 6” and 4” ones when I started my apprenticeship in 1975 and still have them in my toolbox

M&W were the go to tools in the '70's when I got my micrometer from them.
Expensive at the time, you sometimes see them at boot sales nowadays.
Cheers,
Neil.
