Sorry to hear about your loss.
Lug size is 20 mm.
Morning all.
Bit of a sad story really. My brother passed away on Wednesday (47 years old) and 21 years ago bought himself a 14060.
He wore it for most of those years along with a 116619LB.
The 14060 was unfortunately due to the nature of his last few years battered up and when I was handed it on Friday the bracelet was ripped off etc and this bracelet was a new glide lock one he’d retro fitted.
I want to keep it and mind if restore it. Firstly does anyone know what size pins will fit as the one is missing to attach it to the head and also what strap would do it justice most? A nato maybe?
Just looking for some advice really as I’d like to wear it to remember him by and not get it polished etc as it’s him really.
Thanks
Adam.
Sorry to hear about your loss.
Lug size is 20 mm.
Firstly sorry for your loss.
I think it depends if you want the watch with scars and all - if you prefer to have it as nice as possible and are just happy that it was your brothers then I would send it to Rolex to do their magic on. As far as I know you can tell them to go easy on the polishing.
I personally would use an independent who would have more flexibility about fixing the stuff that absolutely needs to be fixed, whilst leaving its characterful attributes as they are. You need to make sure it’s waterproof and not going to drop off your wrist, and that’s worth a proper (independent) sort out.
Really sorry to hear of your loss, but what a nice thing to have and remember him by, with you every day.
To echo others, I'm really sorry to hear about that.
If you're looking to wear it straight away I think they can look quite smart on a distressed leather strap like this: https://www.watchobsession.co.uk/pro...32344672436295
As others have said, it's worth getting it sympathetically restored so that it's water proof and has a secure bracelet in time; but I agree with your sentiments about not getting it polished.
Really sorry to hear of your loss Adam, my heart goes out to you and your family.
Sorry for your loss.
47 is no age at all.
My thoughts are with you and your family
It will need 20mm pins
A nato will work well, maybe in his favourite colour?
Very sorry about your brother
If the bracelet is Rolex and needs attention then Seth -The Watch Dealer is your man to fix it up.
OP. Sent you a pm which may help. So sorry for your loss.

Sorry for the loss of your (much too young) brother.
I would leave the watch as it is with possibly a service if it needs it.
Watches make the best heirlooms as they are close personal items.
Just some new spring bars and a NATO will see you right.
Cheers,
Neil.
Sorry to hear. 47 is too young to pass away. Depending on the amount of wear to it. Maybe just leave as is. Didn't seem to bother him and scars tell stories.
If it needs a new crystal. Get that and a cleaning if needed. Do not polish, change hands or dial.
Nice padded black leather strap with white stitching
I wore my Tudor sub model on a Hirsch Liberty strap. 4 mm thick
DON
So sorry to hear.
If it's lugholes I have a couple of shoulderless bars I can send you and some straps.
Just pm me your address if of use.
So sorry for your loss. Your brothers watch is a great way to cherish the memories. I’d keep it as it is and just make it wearable, the battle scars are a reminder of your brother.
I just wanted to echo everyone's sympathies for your very sad loss. Wishing you and your family all the best.
Foxy, that is awful news.
Wishing you the strength to get through the coming weeks and months. Talking about it, even on here or by PM can help.
Firstly, I am very sorry for your loss, that is too young to lose someone so close.
Personally, I would keep all the dinks and dings on the watch, it is a reminder of the life your brother led wearing the watch.
I would do all the things I needed to, in order to keep it in good working order. Movement service, even replacement crystal (and crown and tube). But I would keep the case, bezel and insert (and of course hands and dial) as it is.
Good luck
Dave
Sorry to hear about your brother, same age has me .
I’d stick it on a nato and keep it has is .

Very sorry to hear of your loss. Far too young.
The sub will look great on a nato as you’ve suggested. Plenty of options out there to find a colourway that links to your brother.

Adam, so sorry to hear of your loss. I’d look for an independent to service it and ensure WR then I’d go with a nice leather NATO and wear it with pride as a part of your brothers memory.

Really sorry to read this.
Echo the advice on just needing some shoulderless spring bars (if it is a model with lug holes) and a nato.
I have some bars and a couple
of straps I can send to you if you need.
Regarding servicing if needed I’d send it to a trusted Rolex approved independent where the lines of communication are clear and simple. Have had excellent experiences with Genesis watchmaking. Also had a vintage sub serviced by Duncan (thewatchbloke) with another excellent experience.

So sorry you lost your brother at such a young age.
Sorry about the loss of your brother.
If the original bracelet is lost then perhaps a RubberB on buckle?
Really sorry to read this Adam. As already suggested, a simple nato would be the way I'd go.
I can't add anything to your question OP.
But I would like to add my condolences to you, your family and all his friends.
Terrible news...sorry for your loss,as others have said no age at all,my thoughts are with you all.

Sorry for your loss and agree 47 is far too young to go.
The watch looks great and what a nice keepsake to remember him by. I would not have it restored as every dink and scar was made while he wore it.
I have a nice watch left to me by my grandfather and love the history and story it holds.

Really sorry to hear of your loss. I'm glad you have got the watch on something to wear and remember your brother. A few of us are around the same age and it doesn't bear thinking about too much; you just never know when its your time.
All the best
It's just a matter of time...
My deepest condolences to you and your family.
Best,
Ben
The image on tapatalk made me click, as the combo looks amazing & reminded me I have a navy nato for mine.
I then read of the circumstance & wish you all the best with your loss.
Like many who commented, I am only 44 and the age your brother died is too young, wear that watch in memory.
PM me if you want some other natos to mix it up a little.
Stay safe & positive through these difficult times.
Matt
So very sorry, to read of your loss.
The watch will be a great memory of your brother, every time you look at it.
So sorry for your loss, and such a young age.
I have a few 20mm nato straps in my drawer that you're welcome to - send me a PM. A couple have never even been worn.
A lovely way to remember him by
So sorry for your loss, and at such a young age, it's horrible. It's really nice that you wear your brothers watch, it's the objects like this give us timeless reminder of the bad times, but also good times we had with our family. And no matter where you go, you'll have a watch that kept your brothers company for 21 years. I have one watch with a similar story and I wouldn't give it for the world.
Since you need to get your brothers bracelet fixed, I would like to gift you a temporary solution. Please send me your address, I would like to send you some 20mm NATO straps (seatbelt style and more modern single piece Tudor Style straps). Don't worry, they are sealed and unused (I sell them), just ignore the very subtile brand logo on the buckle

Adam, you have my deepest sympathies. I would wear the watch on a black or green nato and enjoy it as a positive memory of your brother at this difficult time.
Cheers
Simon
Ralph Waldo Emerson: We ask for long life, but 'tis deep life, or noble moments that signify. Let the measure of time be spiritual, not mechanical.
There is a really gold Rolex independent based near Beverley in East Yorkshire, cannot remember his name but he is ex Rolex and I have seen it’s work, it is top notch. Do an internet search and his site should come up.
