Camper Van Park recommendations - Lake District

I wondered whether anybody had any recommendations for campsites in the Lakes for a couple of nights. This is our first foray into camper van hire and with limited time, thought that the Lakes would be a good shout. Probably looking Ambleside, Derwentwater sort of area, would like to be reasonably close to local amenities, electric hook up, family & dog friendly.

I’ve stayed at a couple of sites from this site, both were very nice, albeit not Lake District (Wye Valley and Great Ouse).

    You might find something suitable.

This place is by lake Windermere, we hired some pods there for a break this summer. Well ran place with strict quiet after 11 ! All facilities spotlessly clean and there was a bar with a nice IPA. Food on site - some walks direct from the site but most stuff a short drive away.

The 2 big UK camping clubs should have something:

    Caravan and motorhome club: https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/

    Camping and caravanning club: https://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/

We were at Parkfoot camping last weekend in the rain it was great. Been going there for 20 years and it’s always nice and friendly. The bar prices are a bit steep but who cares as it’s fun.

We didn’t actually go in the bar on site. The ones in nearby Pooley Bridge were amazing.

Rather belated thanks for the suggestions. Just back from 2 nights at Skelwith Fold in Ambleside. Fantastic site, wholeheartedly recommended.

Some superb walks nearby with jaw dropping views.
