    Toast of London . . .

. . . returning and moving channels, here . Hard to believe it's 2015 since we last saw Toast, lets hope it's as good as it left off.

You deserve at least one hat tip for that one!

Rewatching them all again for the 4/5th time & still crying with laughter each episode.

Great news! I'll rewatch them on Netfix in preparation.

    Cult series, just superb.

Somewhat surprisingly this is my 20 year old sons favourite program. I say surprising as we watched it together when it came out so he must have been 12 or 13 - I remember the whole family laughing until we all head tears down our faces at the ‘gay German porno voiceover’ scene, even though it seemed a bit ‘adult’ for him at the time and was probably wildly inappropriate, neither my wife or I could stop laughing long enough to change channels!

I hope it transfers well to a larger scenario. I loved his flatmate 'Ed'. The scene when he brings home his girlfriend who's had plastic surgery to make her look like Bruce Forsyth was priceless!

Binge watched the whole 3rd series over two days. Loved it. Especially noticing all his fellow actors from What We Do In The Shadows. Loved it all. Shame no one else I know watches it.

I know Matt Berry is never going to do a "straight" comedy but I feel there's too much forced wackiness in Toast of Tinseltown. It's a bit of a disappointment to be honest, Toast of London was so much better observed.

Totally agree. The first three seasons from C4 were amazing but this recent series started off good but faded out. Reminded me of the mighty boosh but just not as funny. Mind you the part where he’s watching Carmen do her song and he says “GOOD GOD had me in stitches

My son and I absolutely love Toast, has us in stitches even after regular viewings. Sadly we both thought the latest series was dreadful - only one appearance from Ray Purchase and that was it. Wacky but not all that funny

It has gone a bit 4th dimension but Toast himself is such a fabulous character….

    My thoughts exactly.

Although this series has cleared up who in Father Ted came up with the silly character names. Compare; Fr. Henry Bigbigging, Fr. Hank Tree, Fr. Hiroshima Twinkie, Fr. Stig Bubblecard, Fr. Johnny Hellzapoppin’ , Fr. Luke Duke, Fr. Billy Ferry, Fr. Chewy Louie, Fr. John Hoop, Fr. Hairycake Linehan, Fr. Rebulah Conundrum, Fr. Peewee Stairmaster, Fr. Jemima Racktool, Fr. Jerry Twig, Fr. Spodo Komodo, Fr. Cannabranna Lammer, Fr. Todd Unctious!

With the names of some of the characters in TIT: Russ Nightlife, Danny Bear, Clem Fandango, Ed Howzer-Black, Billy Tarzana, Blair Toast, Ray Purchase, Agent Saucepan, Dr. Harold Shitman, Jennifyer Madraass, Shepherd Jerbil, Dwight Difference, Will Willis, Phyliss Willis, Weech Beacon, Nina Armenian, Des Wigwam, Richard Chickentoss, Rusty Halloween, Neil Doobla-Decca, Hoop Kaaak, Bellender Bojangles.

Good but not as nearly as great as the original.

This from Mick Weaver, the Hammond Organ player on the track.

"Any comment about the 'World in Action' theme being written by Shawn Phillips, is utter bullshit. I played the B3 Organ parts over a descending chord progression that Phillips came up with. It was a 50/50 collaboration between he and I, and I am utterly pissed off with this charlatan claiming or being credited with having 'created' the entire thing. What happened was that Shawn came to me and said that he had been asked to compose some theme music for a T.V. programme, and that he had come up with a chord progression, but needed help with putting some melody lines to it, and asking would I be interested in collaborating with him to complete it. So, I came up with some vaguely 'Bachish' melody lines and we spent an evening in Trident Studios in Wardour Street, London, recording several segments of varying lengths of my melody lines with Shawn's chord progression."

I always find Matt Berry one dimensional.

I mean, he really does the same act in everything he's in, IT Crowd, Dark place, What we do in the shadows, Toast, he's exactly the same in all of them!

Rather like Robert Mitchum, James Stewart, John Wayne et al?

The other side of the coin is that when you see one of them in a film you have an idea what their character will be - likewise Matt Berry.

7 years since the last Toast Of London?! Christ.

Are there any fans of Garth Marenghis Dark Place here? Still his, and Matt Holness' best work IMHO.

I've tried! Watched a couple of episodes when it first came out, thought it was utter toss. Something keeps pulling me back though, I've watched the first couple of episodes again recently... and still thought it was a bit toss. Might push through to see if it grows a bit.

It was released on DVD, and all the actors did commentary in character. Was worth watching the whole series again just for that.

Did anyone else watch Snuffbox, Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher? Very left field, but often funny and occasionally hilarious. Recommend for any toast or boosh fans.

So far I’ve chuckled at Des Wigwam and Dr Harold Shitman!
