    Stephan Cush (1941-2021)

Maybe not a name from the Music world that stands out straight away !, the lead singer of The Men They Couldn't Hang passed away on Thursday aged 60
The finest indie folk in England with brilliant thought provoking songs and a cracking live show, Have seen them 5/6 times over the years and were always good and had a great time especially with the crowd Cush would mingle with the crowd before the gigs chatting, taking selfies etc....

If you have not heard any of their stuff urge you to listen to The Ghosts Of Cable Street, Island In The Rain , Scarlett Ribbons, and The Green Fields Of France....

    Thanks Cush

    That takes me back

Saw them quite a few times as a student in London, I think not long after they formed in 1984, I have vague memories of moshy drunken chaos

Have the night of a thousand candle on vinyl tucked away somewhere

Good in their day, always 2nd fiddle to the pogues

Sad news, RIP Cush. A great live band, been to many of their gigs, both back in the day as well as some in the last few years, always good.

Was he born in 1941 as in the thread title, or 1961? It is widely reported that he was 60 so I'm guessing 61. Certainly no age.

    Stefan Cush

Saw TMTCH loads of times from their first years at the Town and Country and more recently at the Con club in Lewes.
The last time I saw Cush play he was playing guitar and doing backing vocals for his partner at a very small Brighton gig.

Far too young, played Ironmasters today at high volume

    Nice obit here

I saw them at Reading back in the day. I've got them on tape somewhere. Loved them and the Waterboys! RIP

I saw them at the old Town and Country Club in Kentish Town in the late 80s when I was at uni in London. I have a feeling they might have been supporting The Primitives.
