A real ray of inspiration last year when folk were becoming so introspective, he was just delighted to be raising cash. But what a last year for him, army salute , red arrow flypast and just been on hols with his family. When he rocks up at the pearly gates and is asked, right Tom what good have you done.........

Well that's really gutting. Still - a good, long life and I'm glad he had all the recognition and respect towards the end.

Absolute legend in so many ways throughout his life but particularly his achievements over the last 12 months with his fundraising for the NHS, a real national treasure. Very sad to hear this. Rest in Peace Sir Tom.

    Who cares.............?

Reach 100 is something, but to do so and become nationally - respected............ is something that will make his family proud.

Never has the phrase ‘ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country’
    been more apt.
