Saddest of news.
RIP Sir Tom - true hero.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
A real ray of inspiration last year when folk were becoming so introspective, he was just delighted to be raising cash. But what a last year for him, army salute , red arrow flypast and just been on hols with his family. When he rocks up at the pearly gates and is asked, right Tom what good have you done.........
Steve
Well that's really gutting. Still - a good, long life and I'm glad he had all the recognition and respect towards the end.
RIP Sir Tom. We salute you sir.

Absolute legend in so many ways throughout his life but particularly his achievements over the last 12 months with his fundraising for the NHS, a real national treasure. Very sad to hear this. Rest in Peace Sir Tom.

Never has the phrase ‘ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country’
been more apt.

RIP, never to be forgotten.
I can remember writing this on a Facebook post when he was most of the way through his walk.
Captain Tom, you did us proud the first time round. What you're doing doing now is above and beyond. We thank you for it, but stop now, have a rest and a nice cup of tea.
I think that still stands
