Good spot so maybe an update to the dial and backplate?

A great update to the Everest.

When I had one I found I didn't wear it that much and I moved it on, but I suspect neither would have been true if the gilt one was available - For me, it just lifts it that little.

Anyone else think the gilt would look even better with vanilla / nicotine vintage lume?

    I.e. faux aged tritium.

    Oh, and one of these:

I definitely agree, the gilt dial & handset does look amazing and with old radium lume it would look perfect. I love the way the EVEREST text is visible in the same colour as the Smiths logo giving symmetry to the dial face, if only it was the same on the black dial model, that then would also be perfect.

There's a massive trade-off with vintage lume with regards to brightness and longevity.

    PRS-25 gilt dial

I suppose a lot of people don'’t buy a vintage watch for the lume - in many cases it doesn’'t even emit light anymore.

    My radium ones do.

But I think Eddie might draw the line at that!

Yes, I would prefer the vintage lume too.

I read there are trade-offs, but if you want the absolute brightest then you buy the white-dial version.
My PRS-82 has quite good vintage lume, so I think vintage should be "good enough" ...

    PS.
    I have that Forstner bracelet,
make sure you buy the solid link version if you want to be able to re-size it (it does come with one stretch link).
The version that is 100% stretch links is unable to be resized afaik, so for the small wristed (<=6") it could be too large, or wear more loosely.

In horology does gilt still imply gold. Are the hands plated, is the printing gold in a resin.

Thanks! I like the idea of one stretch link, seems like a good compromise. I have 7.5" wrists so I think I might go for the "all sprung" one.

Agreed about the PRS-82. Once you've got your night vision it's fine. Besides, I have a phone ;-)

Now just to put my mind to paying 25% more due to frigging brexit and import duties :(

Me neither - Baby Poo Lume is, to me, as appealing as it sounds...

It's not even as if it looks like aged lume, is it?

Totally understandable Eddie, going to try my hand at the gilt or the commando. Just need to try make my mind up.

    Can someone rescue me?

Once again, it appears I missed the window. And once again, I'm willing to pay a significant premium (don't be shy) to whoever changes their mind. Remaining hopeful that someone will come through.

    PRS-25 gilt dial

Someone explain why we can’’t do things differently?

    1. Shipping/ordering

Why do watches need to go to Eddie to personally manhandle them? Can’t we use a drop-shipping or logistics company approach? Does every watch require personal scrutiny? Do we not trust the manufacturer at this point, esp. after production samples are made?

    2. Numbers

Why can’t we sign up on a pre-order basis to ensure a fairly accurate number of watches are available? The order would be: pre-orders + watches for stock

As fun as sitting mashing my keyboard is, this feels a little backwards and frankly Halios-like during the hype days. I’ve been buying TF since 2013 and this is a little off-putting.

    Yes 1st world problems...

Ps. The other “solution” to the problem is to ramp up prices until supply equals demand but nobody wants that!

As long as things keep selling like this, Eddie won't have any desire to change it, as frustrating as it is for potential customers. At the end of the day it's Eddie's business and his effort that goes into the packaging and dispatch so how he operates is up to him.

Because all my watches have serial numbers which are recorded on the guarantee. I spoke with an order fulfillment company and they didn't seem to understand what was required. They're happy enough to stuff a thousand t-shirts into jiffy bags but not happy to give the individual packaging requirements of a serial numbered watch.

I couldn't choose between this and the commando so didn't try and order either.

The answer would have been order both but, well thats silly.
