For me, £7 is too much for a trip down (primary school) memory lane. Shave some off a bar, and send it to me in clingfilm?

Yes. I’ve found it’s a bit spicy around the barking spider too.

At first I thought it was a crazy price too but that is for 3 bars....

    Cheers,

    Adam.

Been Imperial Leather bars for my whole life until I got dermatitis and the doctor told me to use a mousturing shower gel.

So now I use Dove, but would prefer an eco alternative that doesn't dry out skin. I use coal tar (substitute) for my hair, so maybe that's worth a try.

    Try Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mitchells-W...y%2C197&sr=1-2

Their Shaving soap is great too.

Being Scottish and a tight Aberdonian no less the concept of something fancy that’s washed down the drain in ten seconds flat eludes me, hence Sainsbury’s own brand Men Advance gets my nod - smells real meaty like a Viking after a day of pillaging.

Glad to see Wright’s soap getting a few mentions too.

I’ve recently gone back to using soap instead of shower gel and I use dettol soap.
    Lovely smell to it.

I don't even bother with shower gel. I use shampoo. If it's good enough for my head, then it's good everywhere. The cheaper it is the better.

When I was a lad we had Matey.

I too prefer an old fashioned cake soap : dettol , pears , coal tar , even the old carbolic.

I also use the same thing on my hair .

Afterwards ...moisturiser (any old stuff ...nivea or e45) and usually a squirt on the nellies of Creed Green Irish Tweed or Creed Aventus depending on time of day .

And a decent flannel for exfoliating about a bit.

Shower gel is for gimps ...cake all the way

Well at the risk of being labelled a “gimp” by our soap bar wielding posters! I am currently using Dead Sea Coconut mineral body wash which is available from Home Bargains for a very reasonable price and has the advantage of not scumming up the shower unlike the soap although I guess it doesn’t give the whole 1950’s boarding school experience you would get with a bar of soap!

Kiehl's at the cheapest price you can buy

The bigger bottles offer much better value than the smaller ones

Eg 1 litre shower gel is usually £56 on the high street. £46.66 in duty free. They had an offer over summer when I travelled into Europe at 3 for 2. So just over £93 for three litres which I think is decent value for every day use

I use shower gloves which allows one to comfortably shower with a reasonable amount number of squirts from the bottle. I also like Kiehl's soap. And shampoo and the body cream. Paid up fan boy here

Not sure if you are taking the Mick but he said affordable. Not sure £30+ a litre is classed as affordable for many

Recommended me some nice affordable shower gel

Why would anyone want strong smelling soap? The aroma will mix with the expensive aftershave everyone wears, or is this the 'layering' I read about on the after shave threads?

Seriously I am another that uses a bar of soap, so much easier.

My favourite is the turquoise blue 'BSRAT' soap you can get in Africa. Buy it by the meter length and cut it up, it cleans everything, humans, animals, cars, eating utensils; you can use it to launder clothes, money - it cleans everything.

I don't smell very nice but I save those pennies

I'm not taking the pee. He currently pays £66 a litre for Milton brown which is an interior product. I'm saying that by buying cheaper and using a reasonable amount with shower gloves, you can use the stuff daily at not much more cost than once a week.

If still too expensive, I like dove soaps. They have loads of varieties and they never disappoint. Very inexpensive.

As someone who works in this industry I can tell you that if you’re paying £30 a litre then I’ve got a bridge you might be interested in. You’re being rinsed. Pun intended.

Keep using the Molton Brown shower gel. Just let everyone know you like it, and they buy you it for Christmas. You end up with enough to last the year.

Another soap and shampoo bar user. I use either Syrian Aleppo Bay Laurel/Olive oil blend soap or pure olive oil soap (e.g Oliva). Ideally aged for a few years prior to use so it lathers better.

I make my own from the ashes and fat of martyrs .

In a pinch I get the imperial leather out .

  33. #83
Imperial leather was the original soap I used. At some point this changed to Pearl I think it was called and the last 10+ years has been Dove. Or failing that, Boots baby soap.

I do not feel clean without soap. Shower gel is usually used on holiday with the luxury of time (in addition to soap).
