Recommended me some nice affordable shower gel

Morning all

I like a bit of a weekend treat and use some nice Molton Brown black peppercorn body wash, but at £20+ a bottle, I can't buy it often.

So looking for cheaper options with a rich consistency and nice smell.

Had tried the men's Baylis and Harding version, but it wasn't very nice, or anywhere near as thick/ rich

Any recommendations?

Tbf that is the best smelling shower gel on the market for us males, your right but £20 plus is too much...

If you have a TK Maxx nearby, the Pecksniffs shower gel is worth a go . A fraction of the price of Molton Brown too.

4. #4
You could always offset the cost and recover some (or all) of your outlay by buying something in a stupid bottle, which you could then flog on Sales Corner as a "rare, collectable" item?
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

£20 is madness. I jump between what's on offer but usually Sanex or Lynx Africa. I'd rather use a bar of soap than pay £20.

The lemon and oak is probably the best.

I only use that MB stuff as facewash.

Bought one of these:Scottish Fine Soaps Commercial 5L Bulk Sea Kelp Liquid Hand Wash Refill

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

More my kind of expenditure, at £5.00/Ltr. (not cheap in individual bottles)

Glad to see Old Spice is on the list:

https://www.menshealth.com/grooming/...-wash-for-men/

I don’t really care what shower gel is in the dispensers, as long as it cleans and doesn’t smell awful.
It's just a matter of time...

This, although I like their Sea Salt shower gel too.
Sometimes it's on amazon for around a fiver but usually it's £8 for a 500ml bottle.

As an aside I used to use Crabtree and Evelyn West Indian Lime hair and body wash as an occasional treat. Now it appears they no longer make any mens products. If anyone can suggest an alternative I'm all ears.

Heyland & Whittle Amber Oakmoss is really nice. But good old radox takes some beating. I’ve noticed recently that some of the fancier stuff seems to come out in big globs and gets wasted.

A shower is a weekend treat? I’m glad I don’t live/work with you.

I use Bulldog Lemon & Bergamot. Keeps me smelling sweet 24/7.

Most are a waste of money and the ones I've had bought as gifts like the Molten pepper stuff smells great for 10mins then goes.
I use Aldi's Lacura 99p and it does the job just the same, and smells pleasant. 😁

19. #19
If you’re lucky you can sometimes grab Ortigia orange blossom stuff at TK Max or l’occitane.
Trouble is you get used to it
Rock face from Waitrose is ok for the money, often reduced too.

I’m a proper cheapskate on such things. I really like the Aldi own brand Kick Start Mango body wash. It’s about 60p for 300ml and is basically the same as Radox fruit scented shower gels but at 1/3rd the price. It doesn’t aggravate my skin at all and smells nice. The Lime and also the Shea Butter scents are also very nice.

Faith in Nature

Does the job, smells great, reasonable prices (particularly if using refills), ethical. What's not to like?

I do like some of the Penhaligon's Blenheim myself, yes well over priced for shower gel but once in a while isn't too bad.

edit: although I see they do a Vetiver and Black Pepper one too. If I had any idea what vetiver smelt like (or even was) I might give that a go for variety.

This.

http://

https://shop.dr...kakailem
Really lathers up well so you only need a bit.

29. #29
My missus flogs handmade vegan soaps so that’s what I use and any bar that’s almost finished and on its last lather goes into the soap bag hanging in the shower. I also use shampoo soap and conditioner bars too.

No more plastic bottles if we can help it.

Vetiver smells dry, earthy, woody, leathery and smoky. Think of uncut grass on a warm day and you'll have a rough idea of what vetiver smells like. ... Vetiver is sometimes referred to as the “Oil of Tranquility” or “The Fragrance of the Soil” for its calming effects.

I gave up on all that sort of thing many years ago and now just prefer to smell...not really!
I now just use Wright's traditional soap with coal tar fragrance.

Thing about using soap - is that it slimes all your drains up.

Please use a bar of something nice instead and save on the totally unnecessary plastics, and the transport to shift about a load of water.

Handmade soap off-cuts. £12 for 950g. Agree with the comment above re cutting down on plastic use.

I’ve never managed to find any cheap shower gel with the same staying power as Molton Brown. Baylis and Harding is dreadful...there’s almost no scent to it.

I find the only cheap shower gel that has a scent that lasts when you’ve got out of the shower is Original Source shower gel.

Why would you want your shower gel to leave a scent? Isn’t that the job of your chosen EDT and deodorant?

Getting clean is the aim, not leaving a lasting scent that masks anything else.

Bulldog is decent, as is Taylor’s.

Yep, I usually multi buy 3-4 bottles which last around 12 months. But then I usually double-up the shampoo rinse with a a pit/ and torso wash.

Just use your head and befriend a hotel cleaner.
You’ll never have to buy a bottle again!

^Dove soap for me as well. If I use shower gel, it is usually Sanex or L'Oréal - whatever is on offer.

I always consider toiletries to be cheap and cheerful (with exception of aftershave).

Same here, same reason.

Currently stocked up with:

Sea salt and lemongrass
Citrus oils and eucalyptus
Lemongrass and mandarin.
