    Seiko Presage

    Morning all,

I've been looking for a landmark birthday gift (to myself from my gf) with next to no luck on and off the forum when I came across this Seiko that I really like the look of but have next to no experience with. Has anyone owned or currently own one? What are your thoughts on it? Jura are offering a pretty decent reduction on it, too - though I don't know if this is a genuine sale or a common occurrence for the range.

I've not got that one, but have been noodling on the idea of something similar for some time; there's an awful lot to like about them and the Presage range in general is great (see all the admiring feedback on the Cocktail Time range, for instance). I've had one of the blue enamel dialled Presages before, and it was glorious. I believe the movement in the one you're looking at is an 8R series, which makes it in-house, column wheel and vertical clutch - great value if you compare with similarly-featured Swiss movements.

Basically, if you like the look of it, I say "go for it"; based on my experience of enamel Presage watches, the dial will be lovely to look at and the quality really good.

Thanks fella. I do think it looks lovely, though I've not seen a blue face one - I'll need to have a nose and see if I can find one to look at. Out of curiosity - any idea why they range from £400 to £4000? It seems a weird range, from Argos to WoS, if you see what I mean.

The one I had was one of these: https://www.ablogtowatch.com/seiko-p...edition-watch/. About a grand new, when available, and so, so worth it. As for pricing: gawd knows, probably partly cost driven (better movements, case finishing, specialist dials etc) and partly driven by market positioning and "exclusivity".

Aye, that is nice. I really like the wee attention to detail on the 'gold' moon.
