Looks like a Tudor Black Bay black with the bezel missing.

Dial and hands look Tudor to me but no bezel markings.

Bit of Googling and I think it could be a Yacht-Master (40 or 42?) but the poor photo is playing tricks with the bezel, handset and case colour.

Edit: doesn’t appear to be a date, although if you look very closely there might be :-).

I'd say that it's a Garmin (Ineos Team UK sponsor) smartwatch set to an analogue display. The lack of buttons on one side narrows down the options but there are just too many models capable of that display to be certain about it. Maybe one from the Vivoactive range? Possibly the Vivoactive 4 with a diver display (link).

    Slightly better photo here:

You can make out the bezel edge on the above photo and just about some numbers on the bezel (maybe). I’m still thinking a Rolex of some description.

My money is still on a Bamford or other version of a modded sub.

They do quite a few with a blacked out bezel both with sword hands and the standard Mercedes

    Definitely no date.

    Looks probably a modded Rolex.

Agreed. One the above photo it looks more round. Modded Rolex is my best bet.

If I'm not mistaken, there's a lume pip on the bezel, it's rotated and resting by the top left lug.

Definitely looks like a Rolex logo and Mercedes hour hand.

Good spot, you’d have thought they’d have given him a stock model.

How about Rolex provided a custom one-off screen app for SBA's Garmin smartwatch, thus preserving the interests of both sponsors (Ainslie and Ineos TUK, respectively)?

As I siad in the G & D thread, SBA is on record thanking Rolex for his custom built titanium yachtmaster, provided by Rolex themselves.
My bet is that's the watch

Direct from The Week in OCtober 2020

Rolex has also assisted on this front, with a unique sports model for the champion yachtsman.

“The team at Rolex has been incredibly thoughtful by giving me a titanium Yacht-Master 42,” he says. “I’m extremely honoured to have it, plus, from a performance perspective, every little bit of weight that we can save, helps us to go faster with the boat.”

    So it is from Rolex

Hmmm I wonder it it’s a Pelagos case or did they make a special case for this watch?
I would like to find out a bit more.

Excellent detective work. Definitely a custom Yachtmaster then. That would explain the darker coloured case and lack of date.

I quite enjoyed that game. Who’s next?

Well there we have it ... Rolex do custom one offs for their sponsored stars.

Would be good to see some better images, looks like faux lume too ...

Surprising that Federer or another endorsee hasn't had a custom or one has never come to market.

Would be interested to see some examples.

I’ve had a good look and can’t find any images of SBA’s Yachtmaster which seems odd, you’d expect Rolex would have made some mileage out of it.

I'm very surprised, but when I'm wrong I'm wrong!

Seems an odd way to market the brand. Am I the only one to take from this the message that none of the watches in the Rolex line up are therefore fit for the purpose they are sponsoring?

Seems an odd way to promote your products. All the other brand ambassadors I’ve seen have stock products.

Just a brand association arrangement I guess, never seen a custom Rolex issued by Rolex before.

Could be Rolex preparing the ground for a new launch. The gold Yachtmaster with Oysterflex strap is expensive, but Rolex seem keen to avoid using that strap on steel models. So producing a titanium range of sporting options could offer new opportunities for them.
Otherwise, the standard 42mm in white gold would have been just fine in marketing terms.

And without a date, too. That watch could go on sale for £15k easily tomorrow and a have a queue around the block. I'd be in line. The ultimate sub no date but somehow not a sub.

Caseback of the DSSD is titanium. If they could just do the rest of the case too that would be fantastic.

I was thinking along the same lines a paskinner above. Maybe SBA is doing some real life "environmental" testing of a future model ?

As for the radio silence, Rolex like to be associated with winners. I suspect that if Britannia get to the final or win overall, images of SBA in his watch will be all over the glossy mags like a rash. We shall all soon see !

It is an epic looking watch, no-date, with a proper lume pip and maxi plots. I'd love one, but my Pelagos will have to do.

Guess he doesn’t need a lighter one, pretty sure he just puts the watch on after the match. Be surprised if it’d survive the way they hit!

It would have to be known as the “Sur Bin” in recognition of the kiwi pronunciation

Personally I'm doubtful. Rolex doesn't strike me as the kind of company to put prototypes of a new release out early. Would be cool though.

According to the statement someone quoted earlier, a titanium version was required for the weight, so the white gold would have been a non-starter I guess.

The weight comment is a bit of a nonsense. A rough calculation would imply a 0.0000001% all up weight saving. There are marginal gains but that is not even registering as relevant.

You can make out the bezel edge on the above photo and just about some numbers on the bezel (maybe). I’m still thinking a Rolex of some description.

That getty image is available in much higher resolution - do not suppose anyone has an account or wants to spend £350...

So, what are the bets that Rolex will release a Titanium model either for 2021 or 2022?
It's just a matter of time...

I have always thought that with all the investment and effort that has gone in to produce the Pelagos, it was strange that no Ti Rolex has been produced.
