Hi all,
I post this with approval from the boss.
I am taking part in an Everest Challenge on behalf of the XXYY UK support group.
My son Dexter has an extremely rare chromosome disorder called 48XXYY syndrome.
There is very little knowledge on the condition in the UK and the team at XXYY UK have been an amazing help for us.
They are a really small group and the only ones that are available for anyone affected with the condition.
If anyone is able to spare a few pounds it would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks to all and stay safe!

Donated. I know how much these smaller charities need help. Good luck with the challenge.
Thank you very much Matt, massively appreciated

Chris, I’ve also made a donation. Best of luck to you all. I’m sure it’s hard getting this off the ground. I guess you won’t be able to claim Gift Aid back until you are a registered charity. I hope you can raise a bit more awareness of this rare condition.
Thank you soo much for your donation!
Sorry if my last post was confusing, I meant that this was my first time setting up the online fundraiser part. They normally do the old fashioned fill out the form and collect the cash way. But with the current situation I thought it would be better trying an online route to avoid any individual contact and cash handling.
As a bonus it's helped me reach out further than I could do normally.

Had my second go at this today and I am ruined. Managed to add 5.6 miles onto my total. Which for someone who normally averages 1000 to 1500 steps a day I'm very happy with myself.
Take care everyone,
Chris.

Hey all :)
Well I only managed 1.3km today after spending the last two days resting after pushing myself too far on Saturday.
But it did get me past my 20% marker! So I'm chuffed with that.
I know walking 40 miles over 2 months will sound like an easy challenge for a lot of people but for me it is massive and I am very happy and proud to do it to help give a little back to the XXYY UK support group.

Donated keep up the good work
I was hoping to get 2 mile in today but managed just over 3.5 so very happy!
Thanks all,
Chris.

Another couple of mile out the way.
Was soo happy to get Dexter out with me this time.
It wasn't the longest distance I have managed but definitely the longest time taken. We had to stop, with what felt, every few steps to talk about either a tree or leaf that he had seen.
And the amount of footprints we have had to investigate was insane
Love this boy soo much!

Well done Chris and Dexter - keep up the great work. Fortunately you live in a fabulous place to go out walking! I've donated to support the cause.
David
3.7 miles today!
Here's a few pics from my journey.
Chris.
Hi all,. After being stuck in bed since last Saturday I managed to get out far a walk today.. was aiming for 2.4 miles which would have put me to 50% of the challenge.
Ended up doing 9 mile! Which I am chuffed to bits with, needless to say I am now ruined but a nice feeling of accomplishment.
Took over 5 hours ,, time for some painkillers and sleep.
A bit pic heavy here but there were some lovely sights.

Hi all,
Managed 4 miles today, which is double what I was aiming for so very pleased with that.
Didn't want to push myself much more as took almost a week to recover from last time.
Going well towards my target and should be good for completing in the next 7 to 10 days.
Thanks to all that have supported me thus far, the donations mean soo much to such a small and relatively unknown group.
Apologies as a bit pic heavy but got some nice shots today.
Stay safe,
Chris.

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing :) Winter is the best season of the year, in my opinion. 2 months ago my friends and I managed to visit the Arctic. I must admit that emotionally it was the brightest trip I have ever had in my whole life. If you have never been there I strongly recommend you to give the Arctic a go :)

Well I have finally Finished!! , and just in time as received an email from NHS today and because of new info on Covid 19 I have now been moved from high risk category to clinically extremely vulnerable and need to shield untill April.
I want to say a massive thank you to all that have donated and supported me through this. It has been a real struggle for me to do this, 40 miles over 4 weeks may seem small for most but for me it was a true challenge.
I will leave the fundraiser open for a few more days incase there is still anyone who would like to contribute, even just a few pounds would be extremely appreciated.

Again, many thanks to you all.

Congratulations Chris, great effort - and you smashed your fundraising target as well.
Thanks!
I'm chuffed to bits with the result, going to make a big impact for some great kids.
XXYY UK are looking at holding a seminar and weekend gathering later this year, inviting over specialists from across the globe and bring all the boys and families together. So we can all learn what we can from each other and from specialists that actually know about the condition.
Going to be fantastic!

Congratulations, you must be chuffed and chafed! What a great achievement and it looks like your walks are in a really nice place. I'm 66% up Everest on Zwift and feel your pain. The 100km walking challenge on Strava in Jan was a good motivator and sense of achievement but I haven't even done half in Feb yet!
