What a difference an insert makes

My Speedmaster had a service replacement insert fitted, i wanted a period correct one so I looked at a few options.
The one thing I didn’t like with my service one was the fact it looked too shiny and new on a 53 year old watch.
Buying a mint DON didn’t interest me and I love the battle scars and chips on this one that arrived yesterday.
I think it’s in keeping with the rest of the watch.

Cracking watch with either if I'm honest.
    Suits both.

An absolute cracker - I think you've done the right thing... and the orange chrono second hand!

Fantastic watch and agree the bezel change looks very appropriate

    A fitting insert.
Makes the reissue pale in comparison. (Imo)

Thanks for the nice comments, I really am pleased with it.
I’m sure it’s not everyone’s taste but I actually prefer the worn and enjoyed look.

One is beautiful, the other is interesting. I prefer the interesting (older) one.

Much better with the aged bezel. I prefer a uniform look.
