Thread: The end of an era for our family

The end of an era for our family

I'm very sad to report that my grandmother passed away this morning, aged 107. Born in 1913, she survived two world wars, but the second wave of the virus cruelly took her from us before we could properly say goodbye.

She had been wonderfully looked after for the last year or so by the amazing staff in her care home in Felixstowe. Everyone who works in this sector deserves are huge thanks and praise.

Her she is in happy times as reported in the EDP (I think) and also a quick photo of when she met her first great, great grandson (my grandson) for the first time.

    Sad times.

    Hello

Very very sorry for your loss, thoughts are with you and your family.

My condolences. These are difficult times for anybody separated from their elderly relatives by Covid distancing requirements, and those caring for elderly patients who may not understand why their loved ones can't visit.
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Wow an amazing age to have reached & so much she love through. I’m sorry for the loss to your family, so many decades of knowledge and love.

I lost all of my grandparents as a young child, I’d have loved to experience their knowledge as I grew older.

Love to you all from our family.

Never feel sad for a life well lived, and what a life indeed!

Living through the pivotal moments in history, the travelling, the changing times, cars, technology - AMAZING!

She must have had some great stories to tell.

    RIP Joy.

Sorry to read of your loss, and others have said, perhaps try to seek comfort in what an incredible life she must have lived.

Many thanks to you all for your kind words. These are greatly appreciated. She was a remarkable lady in so many respects and will be sorely missed. However, we will keep her memory alive by talking about her with our children, our grandchildren and our wider family and friends.

An amazing age and a remarkable century+ to have lived through. To have witnessed all the advances in medicine and technology between 1913 and 2020. Wonderful.

I often think how wonderful it would be to read the autobiography of interesting, but not famous, people such as her. She has such a kind, but strong, look to her. I can't but imagine just how simply cool she must have been. A life well lived.
