Really tempted, but very cautious about the smell when it gets brewing. Can you smell it in the room ?
Hey!
Seeing as all the pubs are shut up I thought I’d give it a shot.
Got a starter kit and a Young’s ipa sat in a barrel conditioning.
Currently got a wherry kit from Tesco in the fermenter and a tiny rebel kit waiting to go once supplier sends me some hops.
Also built a little temp controlled heater/fridge to keep temps level in the garage.
Anyone in here dabble? Any tips or pointers?

It honks like a brewery (marstons is in the same estate where I work!). Soooo... it’s in the garage!

That's a nice set up. I started with much the same.
I'd move up to all grain if you can, the results are much better. Not alot of kit needed, really. Boiler/HLT, mash tun...
This is us now...

Malt Miller and BrewUK are good sources of kit and ingredients.

Cleanliness is soooooo important.
Well done OP...I started my home brew adventure last March and have managed over a dozen different brews since...as mentioned cleanliness is vital and I've been very pleased with all of my beers (funnily enough the wherry was my first !)...with regards to smell I use my dining room for the primary fermentation and apart from the odd light reek over the first couple of days its doesn't honk the house out...(no complaints from the wife thankfully)...I initially bought a brewbelt to keep the bucket warm in case I had to put it in the garage but I've never had to...my favourite brews so far ? St Peters Ruby red ale, Coopers Irish stout and Coopers IPA are excellent...best of luck !
Excellent! I hope to take over the world! I’d actually be happy if it didn’t turn out like old radiator water! Haha!
Which chap are you on the photo? The fella on the right (glasses) reminds me of Edward Woodward - especially from hot fuzz! (I hope I’ve not offended anyone!)
