    Quartz diver recommendations sought

    Good morning all,
I think I would like to purchase a quartz diver.
I would like something smaller than my Orient Sat Diver, but no smaller than an SKX due to having 7.75” wrists.
I seem to prefer Japanese over others and think a mainstream brand would be preferred.
Budget wise, I’m looking at around 1k, give or take.
I’m thinking of a Seiko Tuna SBBN015 at the moment but would love to se some alternatives if anyone has any ideas.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob.

I’d go high end Seiko for the money - you’d get something very nice for half the budget - enough for two!

I have the 39mm HC, I think it's described as the MK2 with fully brushed bracelet and am very happy with it's finish for the price. I bought it with the red bezel and had a black one put on which I think suits it better.

Certina DS Action - gem-like little watches, sapphire crystals, ceramic bezels, and micro-adjust bracelets that are worthy of something much pricier. Picked mine up used for £300 on ebay.

I also highly-rate MWC's Military Diver - 300m, ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal, Tritium indices - under £300 brand new:

Tauchmeister and Zeno both also make some excellent quartz-powered divers.

If you have small wrists someone else has suggested the Certina DS Action - it's literally just come out in a 38mm size...

Is it for actual diving, or the 'genre'? Big effect on the answers, I suspect. I don't think you'd go far wrong with a CWC diver that 'd meet both needs.

    How are we forgetting Scurfa?

Tamer colourways are most definitely available!

If it has to be Japanese and mainstream, I’d go for one of the Seiko Safarnies (SNJ029 / 031).

If you’d be up for something different, the CWC Royal Navy Diver might be worth considering

    Ooh, I like that.

I was going to recommend the Sinn EZM2, but... you know... cost and rarity and everything!

If the budget stretches that's a true watch-for-life - and for me the same applies to the UX: I will own one or the other at some point!

With up to 1k then I’d definitely aim for something really good.

The hydro Sinns look fantastic. I’ve never owned one as I worried about servicing but the effect of the oil is really cool.

I’ve got a 1000m golden tuna that I love - ceramic, titanium and a really good movement. Not sure how much they and the darth version cost nowadays. I also have a SBBN017 and previously had an 015. Really lovely watches and more wearable than the 1000m version. I particularly love the solid feeling of the 7c46 movement when you are setting the time - you can feel the quality.

The CWC RN Diver is another good shout if you like NATOs. Not quite the same quality as the Seikos if I’m honest (and the price reflects that) but loads of charm, history and very wearable.

Citizen Eco Drive for me. Good build quality and reasonably compact.

    Thanks all,
A few ideas there I will read up on.
My wrists are 7.75” and have recently been wearing a pair of Orient Saturation divers and a Gshock Frogman D1000 so do like a large watch!
However, recently I’m going off the size, I used to think the SKX Was a small watch but think that may be the size for me from now on.
I will have a look at the CWC RN Diver as I like the idea of them, I have looked at the ones with the old style dials in the past but not sure if quartz or not and probably out of my price range.

The Elliot Brown Holton is a watch that has been on my radar for a bit. You would have change to spare.

    This ^^^^^^

If it's actually for diving Apeks and Divex do incredibly well finished diving watches using Seiko movements for less than a ton,

The Apeks is a cracking watch for the price. I got mine brand new for £68 with the Divernet subscription.

Get the Apeks for actual diving and the change on a Longines Hydroconquest .

Whenever I think of quartz divers my first thought is always Scurfa, I have the PVD and love it. Great quality for not a lot of money as well as being something a bit different.

The back story of the brand only adds to the charm.

Thanks all for the input and ideas. I havent made a decision yet and am continuing to look, although the fund took a hit yesterday after picking up a nice Seiko 6309-7040
The 'next' one will be a quartz for sure.

I'd agree with some of the above comments:
CWC RN diver, Longines Hydroconquest, or one of the Seiko 62mas modern iterations

I like the integrated rubber strap. reminiscent of Sinn divers.

Another vote for Scurfa here. Great design and value. They hold their price well and the owners Paul and Alison provide exceptional service.

Paul uses his watches in the harshest of North Sea diving environments, they are not just ‘pretty things’ but demonstrate function as designed
