    How much £££?

  5. #5
The old sales manger I used to work with along with a friend were purchasing some of these vehicles from customers and were selling them back to JLR to produce these vehicles. I guess the fact that they’ve beefed up an existing model was ok, 2016 they were discontinued because of emissions and fears over impact/crash stats. Funny how that can now be ignored...I guess the asking price has something to do with that?

I sold my 2016 Landmark for £42k, could've dropped in a crate V8 and jacked the suspension for £35k thrown at it. LR taking the urine as usual, but hey build it and they will come.

Would have been a bugger hey? I knew they were over 100k but didn’t imagine they were 150K.
Lovely looking thing, I want one but 150K really?
V8 out of a RRS along with, I expect the gearbox. The base car back a few years ago was 30K, totally taking the mickey.
For the money I think I’d rather have a twisted.

I like it but not at £150k. You can buy an Audi RSQ8 for that and have substantial change around (£25k) from a highly spec'd one.

Twisted is an interesting option. A few years ago I had a Range Rover that I was prepared to throw money at with Twisted and I spoke to them at length at the Goodwood Revival and afterwards but I just couldn't get them interested in the Range Rover; it was Defender or nothing.

They are superb at what they do, no corners are cut. I currently look after 2 twisted Td5s from 2006 and they are an absolute joy to drive.

They remap the engine, change the inter cooler, upgrade the manifold and exhaust. Lower the suspension, upgraded dampers and steering rods.
Interior are re-trimmed with good quality materials, seat and steering wheel all upgraded. leather/suede headlining. LED light upgrades.
Small upgrades which make the car feel very positive on the road

To add to FFF's post; I drove two Twisted Defenders whilst I was in dialogue with them and was really impressed with power, handling, interior finish etc.

I already had an upgraded 5.3ltr engine in my P38 Range Rover as a result of the 'Cracked Block/Slipped Liners' issue that was pumping out over 510bhp - I had many other mods: uprated brakes, torque converter etc etc. The P38 was not designed to do the speeds that it could as a result and at anything above about 115mph the doors would start to pull away from the body and the wind noise was....extreme! Range Rovers are not known for their aerodynamics!

Twisted are fairly local to me, been a couple of times and they really do go the extra mile with stuff (at a price!).

Twisted does a package for around £8k onto your own Defender which is decent value - remap, wheels and tyres, suspension and exhaust iirc.

But the £90k they ask for a TDCi new build with the above plus some plastic bits painted, full retrim, LED lights, stainless bolts, roll cage and a 'limited edition' plaque is bonkers.

They still have an impressive stock of new unregistered TDCi's.

Under 'updated technology' or whatever it was also, not acceptable this day & age, an utter joke!

But I would still have one in a heartbeat.

Landrover must have looked at Mercedes G's success. That old banger is still as popular as ever and extremely expensive. Is this also a major step for Ineos' Gernadier? I think so. Lots of people would love to get a Works V8 - which will be unobtainable for most (limited). Enter the Grenadier and you're all set to go in a similar car.

The Twisted stand at Goodwood FOS in 2019 was rammed. You could barely see the cars due to the crowds. I stand to be corrected, but Im sure the Defenders they had on show had big block American V8’s fitted though , not tdi’s

They put big engines and gearbox’s in if you have really deep pockets.

Didn’t JLR buy Bowler out so they could build the specials?
