    Laptop woes (win 10)

Not sure if there is an answer to this but one of you guys might be able to help
Short story daughter no2 - windows 7 laptop- could I update it win 10?
    Also replace cmos battery?
Performed the ‘free’ upgrade via the Microsoft site and replaced the cmos battery
All updates performed- niw the darn thing is not charging- 0% not charging
It will briefly start to charge (according to the little meter) on boot up then stop
I’ve googled it and seems a common problem Microsoft gave ignored
Any help would be really appreciated as I could find myself in the dog house
Wondering if I should try to back it to 7- although this might not cure the problem
    Thanks

It would help to know the model of the laptop as there may be a BIOS configuration change you can make. I bought an aftermarket battery (not CMOS) for an old Dell of mine and I solved it with a change in the BIOS (but I can't remember what the change was).
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

I would go to the laptop brand website, search for its drivers and download and install the whole lot again incase they were lost or messed up somehow.

Sorry I could possibly point you at BIOS options if it were a Dell or Lenovo. Hopefully somebody else can chime in. The point about downloading all of the latest drivers is also a good idea - both Dell and Lenovo have a tool that manages all of this and I'd assume that HP offers something similar.

See if you can run this on the machine

    https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/laptops

To identify any missing HP software components

It might be that if it's an old one, that HP dont support win10 drivers for it
