Amazed me how good it feels
Casio Oceanus S100.
Picked up a Union Glashutte Noramis recently and blown away with how nicely finished it is - quite a few of the Certina models are excellent too (PH500M etc) and at a reasonable price point.
Add Tissot and Longines to the list.
Certina worth a shout their crown action is particularly solid . The ph500 is on my list
2nd hand the Ebel 1911 are top drawer but the ridiculously low prices they were going for are now a thing of the past.
Received an Everest in a swap - really solid and worth every penny
I was also going to post Muhle. Superb value especially pre-owned.
Damasko. All that I have owned have been supper quality and built like tanks
I think Oris punch above their weight with some of their offerings
Seiko MM200 are very good for their RRP but extremely good for the price you end up paying with frequent discounts available.
Steeldive and Ocean X are meant to be huge value for money with big praise from nearly all owners but I haven't seen them IRL.

No, I think it would wear that well on my wrist. If anything I might try the Willard reissue or the new Shogun but both seem a bit expensive imo, particularly the black Willard which is £200 extra for the bracelet.

Nomos, lower-end Seiko (i.e. under £500). A basic 5600 G-Shock - surely there's no better value for money?

Dornbluth has been in my sights since that watch finder video. Granted, the most entry level are ETA but I don’t find that an issue at all unlike other watch snobs. Same with Minase. The quality both companies put out at their prices put other mainstream brands at that price level to shame.
Tudor is also doing the right thing with their pricing. Omega is starting get worse with their price increase on the speedmaster. SMP is still ok for now.
Rolex isn’t a good value proposition for what they make vs what you pay, but it’s a damn better price than what you would get on the used market. I hate that. Bought my dad a sub and it took months to convince them to sell me one. That’s not how it should be at all.
Another shout for the Casio Oceanus S100......also a big fan of the Citizen PMD56, superb build quality and materials for not a lot of cash (I have both).
Although lately I have been wearing my lowly £50 Casio MTS sapphire on a Nato most day all day...its lost a second in 3 weeks....superb
Scurfa take some beating when it comes to value especially the D1 and of course timefactors.
+1 on Scurfa. Excellent value for money and very difficult to beat.

Yep - solar and radio controlled, tough enough to wear down the beach on holiday and dressy enough to wear in the evening for supper.. had mine for six years at this point and still bullet proof.
Thank you, just had a look now and it's definitely interesting. I've just sold four watches to try and stop hoarding so will have to mull it over.
The ones that spring to mind that I own now or did recently are
Cheaper and good value
- Newmark (the 52 is very good value)
- Armida (my A1 brass was super cheap, but they cost more now, so maybe less so these days)
- I thought Eddie's Air Ministry was a lot of watch for the money
- The Alkin Model 2 is very good looking
- Scurfa is very good value in general
Spending a little more, but still under £1k
- Mido (the Ocean Star GMT is a very classy watch)
- A-13A - the most functional chronograph for the money
A little more again
- The Siduna is a lovely remake chronograph
There are loads more above that I would agree with, but lacking ownership experience, I won't comment

A couple I will add.
- Citizen Excalibur. Amazing solidity and a peach of a strap. Eco-drive so no worries about battery changes or needing to open the back.
- Wenger Avenue- solid with signed crown and sapphire coated crystal for peanuts
- Muhle Glashutte- absolute bargain secondhand.
- Glycine Combat Sub- great spec and a stylish, slim diver for small cash
- Casio A158- steel case and steel bracelet for under a tenner.
Agreed, engineering of Pelagos case and bracelet is superb, in house movement is one of the most accurate I've had in 12 years of watch obsession and the rubber strap utilising the end links is fantastically designed.
It’s a huge case of diminishing returns.
I think Tudor offer a great value proposition at the minute. With Omega seemingly chasing a marketing strategy of price=quality and prestige (I appreciate they have added some useful technology in recent years especially in relation to anti-mag), when they once had similar pricing. Conversely Rolex has been trying to keep the distance between its two brands. You lose a little in quality and finishing, but not a huge amount, and supply, service, and specs are comparable or better than peers.
It's just a matter of time...
Otherwise, some brands that are still in regular sales can offer great value. I’ve had a few Certina watches and for the money I couldn’t complain. You can currently get an 80hr full steel model for around £300 in a sale; I paid around £400 odd for similar style in Ti a couple of years ago and it’s a great daily wear.
I picked up. Longines Legend Diver in the recent 40% off sales, and I’m pleasantly surprised. To me Longines had been left in a kind of no mans land - a previously great brand that was seemingly left to fill Swatch groups price points rather than compete. I’m sure that’s still the same, as they don’t have access to all the group movements etc. but they do have access to some great group bits - an Annual Calendar for under £2k at RRP! 65hr reserves on lots of models, and much improved range, and finish on more recent models. It’s good to see, as the brand has been overlooked for years. I still don’t think it’s got that “I want to by a Longines, let’s see what models they have that I like” in the way that maybe a Rolex, Omega, Panerai or ALS and Patek might have, but maybe they’ll get back there one day...

I love my Nomos Neomatik 41 date. Very slim, light, big dial, classic minimalist design, and I got it with £500 off RRP.
I also have a Muhle Panova Blue. Cheaper than the Nomos, and that shows - a thicker, heavier case, and a fairly standard Sellita movement. Still a looker though.

A pleasure. Getting them below the 1k mark is a big psychological incentive. Don't think any of is will ever stop hoarding ;)
