    There are some good skills there. It ends up looking a bit over-restored for my tastes but I don't suppose there are many options when it starts off in such a state. I think that it may be missing parts of the counter increment mechanism, which might explain the lack of a demonstration.

    Here's a nice video explaining the internal workings of a pin-wheel machine.

    Thanks for the info. There's a couple of the restorer lads who would probably have restored that to an even higher level, but for me it was ok, a "workable"condition without too much bling. The lack of demo suggested to me that there was either something missing . . . or he just didn't know how to operate it!

    PS. I should have guessed you'd have one! ;-)

    Reminds me that first place I worked after leaving school they had a team of comptometer operators. The racket was incredible.
