I thought that the sofa was smiling.
We've had a fairly standard middle eastern copper tray coffee table at Schloß Carlton-Browne for a number of years and which I've increasingly been getting fed up with. The replacement of same has been taxing me over the Christmas period and a favourite hasn't emerged however I spotted this last night and I can't seem to find it anywhere (perhaps I'm using the wrong words).
Can anybody help to identify the table over his right shoulder? I realise that, in all probability, it's either been made for him especially at the behest of the King of Norway or it's from Ikea (in which case I don't want it) but I'd at least like to know.
Help!

Perhaps cut the section of the picture with the table and try a Google image search?

If you can get a decent representation of what it looks like, you could get someone to make it for you.
It is exactly the type of commission that I do.
I suspect that is made from laminated hardwood (from colour I am guessing unstained beech), and it even looks like it sits on a turntable, but I suspect it is just a round plinth.
By the look of the shape, it is definitely not Ikea.

I was wondering how long it would take...
I've trust tried a Google image search on a crop and the resolution isn't good enough to get any meaningful results - I might try to see if I can get a better screengrab on a 4k monitor later. I can't work out whether it's a single piece of ply that's been fashioned or whether it's a series of cross-sectional cuts that have been glued together - either would likely be pleasing to my eye. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of getting one made but, as you say, it needs a better image as a starting point. Obviously it also needs to satisfy a couple of other criteria (e.g. can't be over 800mm long or it will interfere with the projector beam coming from under the sofa).

You could always just ask him . . .

I think this is the kind of question which - if put with decent dollops of flattery - he might answer.

It's a nice looking design but I do wonder how many glasses of wine have toppled over!
Nearest I could find is this. Not quite the same.

Tom Schneider does some too. Available in a few different styles and different woods.
This one is very cool.

He may well use it as a coffee table but it looks more like it was designed to be a seat or a stool.

The image looks a bit staged to me.

I've just sent a message using the contact form on his website; hopefully I'll get an answer.
I've found a slightly better image on Shutterstock and it appears to have a central section which I assume indicates where glasses can be placed.
I see where you're coming from though and it's still perhaps not foolproof.
I'd actually already seen that one before you posted it - it's probably a little too complicated as there's enough of everything else going on in our living room (no giggling at the back) and I'd prefer something simpler.
I've tried all of the same search words for coffee table with bench and stool but nothing comes up (obviously without combining "stool" and "coffee table" - that would be absurd).
I'm rather hoping that his Yorkshire roots may somehow have had some influence in the procurement process but it is a risk.
Thanks for all of the contributions so far and please feel free to add others.

Never mind the coffee table, how the hell does he manage that spiral staircase?! Not his place surely...
I don't think that it adds much, but here's another image.

Google-ing 'Stool' brought up lots of images that I wish I hadn't seen. :(
It would be good to know how many logs were used in its creation.
While you're at it, ask him where he got the comfy chair.
Are you talking about the little wooden coffee table?

I had a prompt reply from Michael's agent yesterday - nobody expected that, I hear you say. The table was bought a few decades ago from Contemporary Applied Arts in Marylebone - https://www.caa.org.uk. They are still going and I suppose there's a remote chance they'll have a clue who made it and whether they are still in circulation; it's quite an interesting outfit by all accounts though some of the pricing doesn't look totally Yorkshireman-compatible.

It's certainly completely different.

I see Drew Pritchard on Dutch TV. He appears to know a thing or two about contemporary British furniture. Why don't you give his shop a ring (or send them an email) asking them about this coffee table?

Of all the interiors I’ve seen over the last 10 months or so Mr Palin’s is my favourite. Spacious but also cluttered in a homely sort of way. Sash windows and spiral staircase. Lots of natural light. Lots of books and art. Comfortable and cosy but not claustrophobic. Tasteful without being overly curated.
I have basically become a slightly scary semi stalker of celebrities’ homes. Remember when we were all normal? It was only this time last year.
They also have some interesting definitions of everyday items. They say this is a spoon:

A spoon for that price is pretty pretentious.
