    PSA Apple watch series 5

Although not the latest series, series 5 is still better than previous incarnation. John Lewis has got them at an unbeatable price of 350 including the stainless steel version.

Having had a series 1and 4 and the wife having a 5 I’m struggling to see why any model is better than the other especially between the 4 and 5

The only real difference is size; the fours are 38mm or 42mm whilst the fives are 40mm and 44mm along with the sixes.

    The sixes are thinner though.

The 5 has an always-on display, anything before that does not.

Larger sizes and the much improved screen, came with the 4.

Not sure how John Lewis are claiming that these were £749. The series 6 on the Apple website is £509 from what I can see

Sounds about right for a GPS and cellular one with stainless steel case?

But John Lewis claiming they are £749 reduced to £349 - over 50% reduction when the newer model direct from Apple is £509.

Did JL ever really sell at that higher price?

    £749 was the RRP.

Based on the £509 price you're quoting, I think you're looking at the Series 6 with aluminium case, sports band, GPS and cellular. You have to pay more for Stainless Steel (because... Apple!) which is the version of the Series 5 being sold at JL.

Thanks for clarifying. Maybe they are looking at the Rolex stainless steel and thinking that it is a new type of precious metal

Just looked again, and they do have the steel, but they are also claiming the aluminium was up at £749 - seems to be misleading

Steel or aluminium, it’s still a good price if you want cellular.

For those who are still wondering, Currys have dropped their stainless steel version to below the price of JL, which I don’t think is possible.

At least I get 2 year warranty with JL doh.....

Damn it. Is that extra years warranty worth £30..... probably....as long as JLP are still in business.

    John Lewis sold out now.

Just bagged one on Currys. FREENEXT code didn't work, but 5-7 day delivery was free anyway. I paid £5 for next day.

Thanks for the PSA. Another watch I don't need, and years of Apple Watch denial up in smoke.
