Question Estimated Shop Opening Date 2021

Hi Eddie, hope all is well and have had a good Christmas and New Year!

I was wondering what your estimated opening date for the shop is this year? Dying to get an order in for the 'Baby' Willard!!

    Many thanks,
    Fraser

Can't wait for the fun to begin! I set more alarms for the shop opening than I do to wake up in the morning.

What's it like ordering on the website? I've only purchased one everest and that was secondhand.

I was eagerly waiting for the shop to open but with all the brexit things going on I'm having second thoughts since I'm a different country. I really wish I had ordered a prs-40 months ago.

Best advice is to get your order in as close to the opening time as possible; set a few alarms

Does it tend to open up at good times for people in the UK? Based in California I’ll have to plan more odd hours if that’s the case.

Generally speaking the shop opens at 14:00 UK time on Sundays for between 15 - 30 minutes, but not every Sunday, sign up for the Timefactors newsletter for advance notice of opening times.

Looks like that’s 6 am my time then. Whelp I’ll definitely need an alarm all right. Just want to get my hands on that jubilee Everest.

Frustrating isn’t it. I’m from the UK but living elsewhere in Europe and this whole issue has been very frustrating from the start. But now it seems like it’s going to effect everything in regards to purchases over 22 quid (inc shipping). I’m often put off from buying say from America due to getting hit with customs and now we have this in Europe. I can always send it to a family member in the UK but it’s not ideal.

Is the news letter something you subscribe to via the website? I though I read mid January somewhere that's pretty close now.

You can expect between 4-5 emails per year based on my archives for 2019 and 2020

The last two you should have received seem to be (mm/dd/yyyy)
    11/6/2020, 9/10/2020

Well as of now I guess I cannot expect any emails. Second time I subscribed was during the order proces in sept. 2020. At least that's how I remember it. I thought Let's tick that box since I haden't received anything then. But even after ordering I never got any mail. Perhaps I'm too stupid to subscribe but yah. I will probably never find out way it didn't work twice.

    Let's give it another whirl!

I will say that I found out about the ordering date from this forum first, but a couple of days before the store opened I DID receive an email. I managed to not spend all of my money this go around and signed up for an email for January. I believe it will be either the Expedition or the PRS-36. Ciao! BTW, is London now on ZULU time?

Thanks Redhead. I've subscribed so lets see how it goes. The last time I tried to place an order in December I could even get the site to load on my computer at 1355 and it was closed again a few minutes past 1400. Fingers crossed.

Regarding Brexit - will the prices for EU customers be without UK VAT from now on?

I got my Everest second (third?) hand on another watch forum. It’s doable without a huge premium. I think the 36 mm is actually commanding a higher secondary value than the 40 mm that I got.

It obviously sucks that these are being resold but I can’t say I don’t understand it. Maybe someone needs a quick buck because they had some sort of emergency expense. Maybe someone fell out of love with their watch or needs to sell to fund their grail. It’s isn’t necessarily all scalpers (although that’s always a consideration for any limited run product). I never made a dime selling my watches and I wouldn’t ever part with the one Rolex sub I’ve purchased.

    Thanks for the clarification, Eddie.
I guess this means ~20% increase on top of the website price when purchasing from EU country from now on.
I guess I will find out soon when you open the store - I just can’t resist buying Baby Willard.

I'm guessing that Eddie will be keeping to the old format of opening the shop on a Sunday for five minutes? The new website looks more like a 'conventional' click and buy when you want format or is that just my wishful thinking?

I plan to open this Sunday (24th) but there won't be any Everests, it's now mid-February for those.

    Thanks for the update Eddie,

Do you have a 'service partner' or recommended watch repairer?

My PRS 29 a (acrylic version) has stopped and I guess needs a service.

It may have been the shock of the Navigator arriving in the collection ;)

    Hi Kneadking,

Thats another interesting piece. Do you have a side by side pic by any chance?

Did you get yours with the early bird kickstarter discount. 900 squirrels sounds a little expensive.

    A nice looking with though.

I did in fact get in on the Super Early bird for $767.00, but to me it was worth every penny, and because it was under the $800.00 mark I didn't have to pay anything in customs fees.

    No everests available today

How quickly did 300 pieces sell today?

Congrats to those who scored their favorite piece(s) today and best of luck next time for those who didn't. It took me a few attempts to get the Baby Dreadnaught. And I will definitely try my luck for the black 36 mm Smith Everest.

Let's just hope none of todays pieces shows up on eBay at a premium.
