    Seiko 7458/7548 prices

    Hi there,
I know some people specialise in Japanese watches so thought I’d ask before buying.
I’m thinking of an affordable vintage Seiko diver for my next watch and at the moment am looking at a 7458/7548.
What do you think a fair price for a tidy, original model would be?
Are there any other interesting models worth considering?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

Price is very dependent on condition and originality, but I recon £250 ish should find you a nice one (7548)
    Cheers..

Prices depend on condition as with most models but like Jason says £250 could perhaps pick you up a fair one but prices are going up.

The 7548-7010 is one of my favorite's because it has a screw down crystal retaining ring, screw down crown and case back plus its 200m compared to 150m.

The 700C has the orange face so another nice one, 700B has the pepsi bezel, a really great watch imo and undervalued for what you get.

I’ve been wearing one on a oyster bracelet for probably the last year, always my go to watch, and I have plenty to choose from. I love them.

My 7548-7000 was an eBay steal about 4 months ago for £190, and it’s one of the watches I love the most.

    Thanks all,
There is one on eBay and after chatting to the seller it sounds very genuine. Owned for 15 years, was brother in laws before that. Replacement crystal at Seiko 10 years ago.
However, it’s up for a starting bid of £350.
Maybe time to put a wanted add upon here...
Are there any other, similar models worth considering too? I always like to have a couple of similar items at the same time for some reason lol
    Thanks again,
    Rob

Keep an eye on it, it might sell, it might not, if it doesn't, you could offer him less, it depends, if its a really really nice one it might be worth it, its always a good idea to buy the best one you can, they won't get any cheaper and even if you think you might have paid a little over the odds, the value will catch up over time.
    Cheers..

    Thanks Jase,
This is the one, which to my untrained eye looks quite a nice example.

Looks pretty good, nice to see the original finish in the caseback, doesnt look overly polished.

Thank you, just had a look and it sounds interesting, modded however and not sure if that’s a good or bad thing?
I know Skx’s are often modded but not sure if a possible 7548 should be.
Time to speak to the seller maybe...

I'm not into vintage Seiko so much of this is over my head but the seller is first class and has a very good name on the forum if you do choose to deal with him.

They are attractive watches - I like the Pepsi versions

They are cheap enough to build up an interesting "collection", and as with most Seiko's they are easy to "mod"

Here's a couple of my favourite "mixtures"

That Pepsi in the 7040 case looks great, I have a regular 7548 in that case and it’s the best of both worlds.
    Cheers..
