    The “Acrylic” Appreciation Thread

Following a suggestion over in the timefactors section and inspired by some modded Timefactors watches, here’s a thread solely dedicated to watches which have an acrylic/hesalite crystal...

I’ll start with this festive treat:

Fortis Marine Master with a definite scratch magnet raised perspex crystal, offset by a lovely warm look.

How lovely is that?! That crystal does have such a warm look.

That is the perfect watch for acrylic...

Not possible, acrylic scratches so easy, sapphire is so much better blah blah blah

Acrylic certainly seems to give a Boctok Amphibia a depth rating well beyond stated. I read it somewhere but can't find a link just now. I guess most proper watches will go below the rating given but I believe there is something about the acrylic that allows it to bend under extreme pressure while still retaining the seal, rather than other materials just shattering. I might be wrong though. It is the internet after all. Not something I'm likely to find out for myself. :)

I have less acrylic in my collection currently than I've had in a long time, but it is my preferred crystal material.

    One of my favourites....

They are all old photos, I don't still own all of the watches pictured, but yes, I like a bit of acrylic.

And here is it`s relative, the Vulcain.

How about this for a hunk of plexi?
Despite it`s highly raised prominence i don`t find it particularly sctratch prone.

Lovely, but then I am a fan of the brand :)

Acrylic makes a massive difference to the appeal of a watch for me.

Some absolutely stunning shots here, confirming that acrylic is by far and away my favourite choice of material for a watch glass.

I much prefer acrylic on my watches, the Speedy Pro wouldn’t have the charm without it, I have quite a few of mine ‘converted’ to acrylic, I’ll try to get some photos together.
    Cheers..

I'd be here all day if I was to post all of my acrylic crystal watches, I'd just say it is my favourite watch crystal material.

Easy to polish, cheap to replace and gives a dial a "softer" look.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Surprised not to have seen this one in here yet. Probably one of the most affordable acrylic watches (although the price is climbing rapidly)
