    Datejust 16233 dial colour question,

    Evening all!

A quick question if I may please.

I will more than likely be picking this 36mm Datejust tomorrow. Its from 1988...I like the dial colour...its a lovely "creamy" type colour. The only thing is....Ive not seen any others with the same colour dial!! Is it a faded champagne dial, or were there indeed cream coloured dials in this model?

    A couple of photos below.

    Thanks for any info.

Don’t know Daney, I haven’t seen that colour before either. I’ve never seen a champagne dial go that colour, one of that age should still really be champagne colour and the minute markers are not as per the champagne dial.

    Cheers for that Mark...

Its a lovely looking thing...its just...! As Ive not seen that colour dial before....I thought it best to ask on here, if anybody has any ideas? Ive seen a similar looking dial on a later datejust...but that has Roman numerals?!

I hate to say it but could it be a non-OEM dial?

What’s the bracelet stretch like? Aah it looks ok on the first pic.

    Has it been serviced?

I don’t think champagne would fade like that. Possibly a white or silver dial which has ‘aged’ maybe? Is the surface of the dial textured?

So does the jubilee dial mean the dial is patterned / textured?

    Thanks for that.......

T.B.H. The only reason Ive not bought it yet............is because Ive not seen another with the same colour dial....so Im a little concerned its not a replacement dial or something like that?

Yes, it has the Rolex text almost embossed into the dial repeated

Seeing the Miltons one would put my mind at rest Daney. The dials seem identical.

I had a lightish coloured jubilee dial a few years ago - sure it was the word Rolex repeated in the texture

Excellent, I am happy you convinced yourself not to buy mine!!

However, if you fancy putting it on leather or rubber (I used to wear a black dial DJ on rubber, it looked ace) I would be happy to buy the bracelet at any time!

I've just seen this thread, I think its dial 13/16008-65!
I had a datejust serviced by rolex 6 years ago and they sent me a chart with all the possible replacement dials for a 16233.

I've just done a google search for that dial reference and nothing seems to come up but I still have the email Rolex sent me with the different dial options - happy to forward it to you if it would help.
    Cheers
    Tim

Not the best of pics....but yet another rubbish day weather wise today!

I really like it..do I think its "too small"? Yeah probaby! Im sure I can get used to it though...I will probably sent the bracelet away, to do something with the stretch....I could do with another link for the bracelet........no idea how difficult they are to find though?!

The photos really are rubbish...! Sorry!

    Excellent, looks great 👍

I’ve had mine on for the last few days. No idea about how much a link is, try a wtb or somewhere like Miltons.

You might try searching eBay.co.uk for "Rolex 62523 link" and find genuine ones are available for £49.99

The version for gentlemen is the 62523H.18 and is 15.3mm wide.

    ;-)
