What's a new Seadweller worth?
I'd probably start about there as a lot of that is essentially new but much nicer looking than the new model.
I was looking at the cleanest 1665 GW that I've ever seen. However, despite the insert, hands and face being original, it has:
- New case
- New super dome
- New bracelet
- and gawd knows what of the movement.
All done by Rolex themselves and comes, obviously with the service papers. No original B&P.
Looks stunning, but how is something like that valued?

There will certainly be a market for it. I had a Mark 1 Great White with replacement Luminova hands and it just looked wrong. I think if that was mine I would get someone like Simon Freese/James Hyman to remove the Luminova and replace with something more colour matched to the plots that wouldn't shine like a torch at night.
I would have said less than a new SD. My best guess would be £7.5k to £8k.
Original dial like that....there’s no “right answer,” but I think you’d find a buyer at £10k.
One of mine is the opposite — all original but a luminova service dial. Formerly the watch of a city “figure” who wasn’t bothered by originality and wanted condition to be as good as possible.
Love them

I think it looks great. Rather that than a beaten up old thing looks like it's been through a mangle. Patina is fine if it's your own patina, otherwise it's just wear. (unless it's old dangerous and collectable of course!)
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Like that, very tidy. The description of lume as warm makes a lot of sense when you see these.
Here's the shocker: they want £23k for it!

The replacement case would be the only big issue for me.
£23k is crazy.
I think it is a great watch and one that I would be very much interested in buying.....but not at 23k. I have seen similar examples of GMTs, Explorers for around the 10-11k mark which I think is a more realistic price.
When did you start going vintage, John?
Hallo mate, buying a 666 that had been passed around the forum turned my head. I've been looking at a level of conversion from the ceramics towards some rattly 5-digits, but its a friggin minefield!
Here's a pic of that 1665, with a 666 from the same source and my 666 together. Some loveliness!!!
Mine on the right, GW 1665 on the left:

Sadly (for me) this is the sum of it's parts and not in anyway a true vintage piece.
I understand the furore (market, not OP) but the real stuff is original with correct B&P and priced accordingly.
As originally posted - it will always be seen by many as 'triggers broom'.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Ah, the minefeild that is vintage Rolex. Not a game I can even consider playing for sports Rolex.
