    Da da da DAAAAA!

To mark Beethoven's 250th anniversary, Radio4 tonight at 20.00, should be an entertaining listen. Available later of course for download.

Whilst most will recognise the 5th Symphony, Opus 37 is the one for me, especially with Alfred Brendel tickling the ivories. Sublime.

    Thanks for the reminder, Mag.

I used to think Beethoven was the pinnacle until I got to know Bach.

Then I stopped trying to compare them and realised that they often suit different moods.

It didn't help that I listened to Gould, who was sometimes a little critical.

That's like trying to compare Rembrandt with Escher.

    Good point.

I take it Bach is Rembrandt in that comparison?

I refer you to Douglas Hofstadter.

I thought this was about Police then noticed no 'do's' and too many 'da's'. I suppose that makes me a right palestine.

Reminds me of the late '60's tv series 'Manhunt'.
I personally prefer his 6th, the 'Pastoral', but any classical I listen to relaxes me and restores my faith in humanity.
