It’s been a while since I owned mine (think I sold it about 7 years ago). Thinking back they feel like two very different watches as opposed to the Smiths being any kind of clone. How would you compare side-by-side?
Loving the Navigator.

Similar styles but the execution in the details is different, very nice to see them side by side.
Now, if somebody had a baby Speedbird and could put it next to a Mk XII that would also be interesting.
I also have both, albeit my Navigator is away for repairs at the moment. The XII is a bit slimmer as noted and the domed crystal gives it a different personality. The absence of the date on the dial on the Navi gives it a more minimalist feel that I find very calming.
I too have both and the moment its the Navigator that is being worn.
I would like to see a DLC navigator to scratch this itch...
Thanks for those comparison pics.
I was look across the web for that comparison. I how have the navigator and briefly had the IWC some years ago. The Navigator is a nicer watch IMHO without the date and seems to wear taller with more wrist presence enemy memory of the IWC serves me right.
I don't have the IWC MK XII but I know that the Navigator is here to stay in my stable.
A quick pic of the navigator, PRS29a and explorer.
I must take some more wrist shots.

When you choose Insert Image (the little picture icon) it allows you to enter a URL.
You need to point that URL to a picture hosting service such as IMGUR which the other poster used.
It looks like your problem is that you are "attaching" the image, so it doesn't load on your posts?
Once you have an IMGUR account, then you can upload images over there.
Then when you select your image at that site, you have a range of URL options, and you'd choose the "Direct link" option to paste into the URL box here at TZ-UK
hope that is enough help to get started
Just seen Longines launching a 'Marine Nationale' updating one of their old military watches (oceanictime.blogspot) .... kinda makes the Navigator look even more of a bargain!
It looks lovely, but seems a rip off compared to any of the timefactors offerings...

The closest to the Navigator I know is the Stowa Flieger 36: same size, same movement, german made case and dial, no anti-magnetic, half the water-resistance for double the price. The nice thing is you can see the movement. And you can actually buy one :)
