I'm very much looking forward to reading the stories, and I intend to use them as diversions, as I work my way, slowly but surely, through The Luminaries.

    Have a good one Alex!

    Brilliant!

    Holmes would be proud!

    Have a great one yourself.

Have just finished reading Alex's book; it was a superb distraction from the all-consuming fog of misery that is currently enveloping us.

Thoroughly entertaining and can recommend to all ACD fans.

A link for me too please. I've sadly exhausted my powers of deductive reasoning so hopefully your book will entertain and educate.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Now purchased, thanks Alex.

Happily it also forced me to dust off and fix the Kindle that hasn't worked for a long while and I'd all but given up on.

Looking forward to the read once I work through my backlog of other books.

I’m absolutely delighted you enjoyed it! It’s getting almost exclusively five star reviews now, so please feel free to add to that! 😉😁

I thoroughly enjoyed the collection, which were certainly in the style of the originals. I shall have to dig them out once again. My favourite was the three parter, deliciously gruesome!

I mentioned the book to a friend who bought the paperback for her father, who is a huge Holmes fan, having read everything. He finished it before me and was delighted.

    Congratulations Alex!

I'm delighted - the first one is just a gentle warm up though... if you liked that I think you are really going to enjoy the rest!

Please do let me know how you get on.

Based on the success of this book so far, I have been sketching out some more stories. Once I have finished the teen to adult sci-fi novel I am now writing, I am certain I will return to Sherlock.

Oh, and positive reviews of The Lost Case Files are very gratefully received!

PS - it is now on Kindle Unlimited for a promotional period in the UK (my publisher is managing this side of things as they know what they are doing and I don't!) so if you are a member, you can get it included at the moment!

It's already had more than a hundred downloads since it went live on Kindle Unlimited yesterday.

Thanks for that - an interesting read. Fortunately my stories don't make any reference to any elements from the last stories Doyle wrote, mine are set in the 1880's to early 90's so not an issue for my book, but clearly some authors have got caught out over the years. It seems the issue is with some features of the stories he wrote in The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes - published 1927.

At the end of the day, there have been many new Holmes stories written since Doyle, and my book is just one of them, but thanks for the article!

Not sure how I missed this!

I've been dropping hints all over the forum to encourage the return of Jim Banana and I realise now you've been working on an even more impressive project.

Please send a link, you will have another sale, A.

For anyone else who might be interested, Amazon are doing a special promotion on the ebook for this weekend only - free kindle download.

It is currently ranked Number 1 in some categories (!) and there have been over a thousand downloads in the past few hours.

As it has now received many positive reviews, I'll put the link here:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lost-Case-F...6374038&sr=8-1

If you would like a free copy, please, er, feel free! The promotion will end tomorrow evening.

Any more positive reviews very gratefully received - proceeds are going to charity - a new Scouts and Guides residential centre.

    Just a little update...

A couple of weeks ago my book reached the Number 1 position in several Amazon categories having now sold several thousand copies since release.

My publisher was delighted, as was I, and I wanted to pass on my thanks to those here who bought or downloaded it.

Proceeds are going to charity, so if you do fancy a copy be assured it is in a good cause and that, according to the reviews, you should hopefully enjoy it.

    Thanks again,

    Alex

    Thank you!

If you have a chance to leave a review or rating I'd be very grateful.

And nice use of the word "cleave"! I'm going to use that in Volume 2 when I write it!

Thanks to all those who have purchased so far - ebook or hardcopy.

Some reviews are now appearing, and so far they are extremely gratifying!

I hope you are all going to enjoy it, and do feel free to post some feedback here of course.

I have to say I was more nervous in releasing this than I can recall about anything in a long time. Writing a book is a very personal experience, and you think/hope you've done a good job, but it's a great relief to find that others seem to think so too. It was professionally reviewed and critiqued a month or so ago before release, and that was hugely positive, so at that point I breathed a sigh of relief (and punched the air with a "Yes!" if I am being honest!).

Just ordered the paperback, looking forward to its arrival

    Thank you all so much.

I hope you enjoy it as others seem to have.

Let me know how you get on.

I am particularly interested to hear from other readers here if they had any particular favourites amongst the stories, as I am sketching out a Volume 2 that I will start on once I have finished writing my current book (probably some time next year).
