Any Conan-Doyle Sherlock Holmes fans here?

I have a new book out. It is an anthology of new Sherlock Holmes stories written in the style of the originals.

I am delighted that professional critical reviews have been extremely positive, so if you like your Holmes and Watson as Doyle intended, then drop me a pm or post here and I'll send you the details.

I am donating proceeds to charity, so you'll be doing some good too!

Just got my eldest hooked on the originals and we’d both like to read further exploits.

Read the first two last night, great fun, really captured the way that so many of the motives in the originals stemmed from events long ago or far away.

Just out of interest is there a reason not to just post the link in the thread? I haven’t done so in case you didn’t want to do so but it would seem to be a more efficient way of directing people?

I think it will be with you in a couple of days or so - I think Amazon are quoting a bit longer due to Xmas run up & Black Friday at the mo, but other people I now have received theirs in two or three days.

What a fantastic photo - just about sums up life at the moment.

Thanks to all those who have purchased so far - ebook or hardcopy.

Some reviews are now appearing, and so far they are extremely gratifying!

I hope you are all going to enjoy it, and do feel free to post some feedback here of course.

I have to say I was more nervous in releasing this than I can recall about anything in a long time. Writing a book is a very personal experience, and you think/hope you've done a good job, but it's a great relief to find that others seem to think so too. It was professionally reviewed and critiqued a month or so ago before release, and that was hugely positive, so at that point I breathed a sigh of relief (and punched the air with a "Yes!" if I am being honest!).

So clever my foot fell off.

I had been reading Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Return of Sherlock Holmes just last weekend, so the original stories are fresh in my mind. After finishing Alex’s first story “The Adventure of the Old Acquaintance” from this new collection, I am honestly very impressed, and am excited to read the rest. Without exaggerating, this could have appeared in The Strand 120 years ago!

If you are a fan of Holmes and Watson, don’t hesitate to give this book a try. I paid about £8 total for a print copy with shipping, and the ebook is even less, but it is so enjoyable to see these few forgotten cases from the archives.

Great job, TheFlyingBanana , and thank you!

Thanks so much for the positive feedback williemays - it is hugely appreciated.

I am very glad you enjoyed The Adventure of the Old Acquaintance, but consider it just a gentle warm-up for what is to come in the rest of the book...

Thanks to all those who have bought my book - I truly hope you are enjoying it - do let me know how you get on!

It's now selling pretty well in both the UK and US, as well as Canada and even a few in Japan - so I guess you could say I'm small in Japan...

It's getting some very pleasing reviews also, so I am feeling inspired toward writing a Volume 2.

Fantastic - I'm delighted, and especially please for younger readers to discover Sherlock.

Did you have a favourite story?

Please do leave a (hopefully five star ;-) ) review on Amazon if you get a moment!

Thanks chaps, I’m so glad you are enjoying it!

There was a wonderful five star review left for it by someone whose review history shows he’s a serious Sherlock aficionado- and usually slates new Holmes stories, so I am feeling very pleased (and relieved!)

My aim was always to entertain in the way the originals do. Quite a creative and intellectual challenge- but very rewarding.

If you can find a few moments to leave a nice review I’d be hugely grateful.

I'm sure you would get more takers (myself included) if you gave a few more clues (e.g. the title). As a long-standing member and proceeds going to charity, I don't see the issue.

    I'm yielding very little for Mssrs. Banana or Blackadder in the Holmes section - albeit you might be using your real name Mildred T Walker ? (o;

As seems appropriate, I've used deductive reasoning from the clues in this thread to buy a copy, without a link. ;)

I'm very much looking forward to reading the stories, and I intend to use them as diversions, as I work my way, slowly but surely, through The Luminaries.

    Have a good one Alex!
