Nut help required - as in nut and bolts

I’m struggling to find what in after, nit being a DIYer I’m probably looking in the wrong place.

I need a flat nut for a M6 bolt but has to be 14mm wide and 4mm thick. Can be square or hex, either will work.

I know they exist as I have one but the thread is knackered, just cant find a replacement.
    Cheers,

    Ben

I've never been let down by these folks and I have a fondness for kit cars and vintage bikes that use a wide range of oddites:

Does it really have to be that width - 14mm Wide is non-standard so might be difficult (impossible even) to find?

Standard nut is usually 10mm across for an m6, if you get stuck Ben, I will fabricate one for you.

Yes, ive been told 10mm is standard for a M6. Any smaller than 14mm and the nut rotates when screwing in the bolt. The bolt slides into a slotted recess so relies on the sides of the recess to hold it tight while screwing the bolt in.

The other thing to do Ben is to take a standard nut and widen it with a bead of weld either side and file to 14mm.

I think these might work, would there be any issue with it being aluminium with a steel bolt?

For to technical for me mike, as a temporary measure i have taken a standard 10mm square not and wrapped the edges with electrical tape to make it bigger. Not perfect but is working for the time being.

No worries ben, aluminium will be fine on a steel bolt, as long as it's in the dry.

Thanks for all the advice and offers to help, ordered these which should work with minimal filing.
