Never mind the watch, your hand or the lead - is the dog okay
So this may of been done before. But is it safe to walk your dog, when wearing your watch. I ask because this just happened? I hope mine is ok. Will check later

Ouch, hope your hand is OK!
Did the lead break and you fell? Or some sort of rope burn?
What on earth happened here?!?!

Great, welcome to mumsnet FFS
It’s only a light scratch, you’ll get over it.

Never mind the scratch, lead, dog, or whatever, is the 'Sub' OK?

I love dogs but it has screwed your ceramic bezel. I'm afraid to say that the only possible option is to sell the dog for vivisection experimentation in order to recoup some of the costs of replacement. Should it be a pedigree, you may be fortunate that it's sale (in toto rather than for parts) may cover the costs.

I don’t understand this post.
I fell off my bike and damaged my watch while on route to pick up a takeaway once. It’s not worth the risk, I must remember to leave the watch at home next time 😂
Arhh.. I get it now.. You were yo-yo-ing!

You have a small but strong dog and it ended the walk by hurtling though the dogflap?
Sorry to hear that.
Anyway, just heading over to the Misread Thread Titles.
Was OP walking the dog or the other way around?
I think it may of been a bit of both about who was walking who. Dog is ok, hand is ok and the watch is ok too.

Well I had a few beers on board. Walked out the front of the house and as I did Mrs SiSetts was getting home. Ozzie the dog, heard her and pulled like crazy. I was not realy ready for that and my hand smacked into our front wall. Then the lead snapped and of he went to greet her!! At least I never fell over.....this time.

The moral of this story would seem to be...............Get a paracord dog lead!!
Reminds me of this article from Goldmiths on taking care of your watch.
In brief, risks from shock, jolts, water, chemicals, cuff links, magnets and heat and the sun suggests we'd all be better off leaving nice watches in their boxes...
Well we now know who the dog prefers.
I particularly like these ones:
"It’s worth remembering that if .... your watch is a little older, moving from cold to warm temperatures – like coming out of a steamy bathroom for example – can fog up the crystal. This could lead to condensation water damage, so it’s best to avoid wearing your watch in these types of atmospheres."
As regards storing your timepiece (in the OEM watch box), "..be sure to avoid laying your timepiece on its side, and in doing this you’ll protect the pushers and crown. Similarly, keep the crystal facing upright to ensure it doesn’t get scratched."
"Lengthy periods of time in direct sunlight.... can dry out the lubricants that help to keep the inner components working smoothly. Because of this, we recommend limiting the amount of time your watch is in direct heat or sunlight"
I just did some leaf sweeping and driveway clearing in my 5146J (an old watch from 2006, but regularly serviced) - I won't be telling Goldsmiths...
