A fine watch, with its own heartbeat and some interesting history too
I know, but I thought I would mention this watch which I bought in the very early days of my collelction.
In the 80s, I owned just two watches. A 1969 Omega Speedmaster and a just acquired (new) Rolex datejust champagne dial two tone (steel/gold).
I still have both these watches, which I have had serviced here in Switzerland.
About fifteen years ago, I started a modest collection. My first buy was this watch, a Casio 4766 WVQ-M610.
I basically just liked the looks of it very much and was not really aware of what to look for at that point.
Fifteen years later, I can now appreciate its qualities and functions.
Solar powered, It is still running on the original battery!
A sapphire glass crystal
Radio controlled in Europe, Japan and the US
An excellent solid-link bracelet
A completely analogue face with day date function.chronograph, and quick change between time zones.
Apologies for the stock photo. Very hard to photograph. Too many facets and reflections.
I think I paid about $400 for it. Mail order from a shop in Paris.!
It is very tempting to just pop this on in the morning. Never needs setting, and is er...... accurate.
I do miss the "heartbeat" of a mechanical watch, and the history behind my other watches, but I do like my Casio
