    Decent sweaters

For those who like quality basics, what are you go to sweatshirts?

Sunspel are a great fit but not cheap.
Trickett super heavy, fantastic but limited supply.

Lyle and scott - not bad for the money.

Im a lucky bit and don’t really need anything, I am thinking all I really could do with is a new grey or black quality sweater.

Has anyone tried the merz b Schwanen 346? They look quality, or am I missing out on other brands.

I tend to wear a Gansey or a Guernseys most of the time and there are some great companies and knitters around who can do traditional patterns for you. One in traditional worsted in black or dark navy will last you a lot of years.

Lyle and Scott? Where are they made these days?!

Always go for Sunspel or Good Measure myself, very good.

Never heard of them before today. I love their story and renewable supply chain methodology. Their prices are very reasonable. I might try one.

    Thanks.

Check out Colourful Standard. They are excellent and 💯 % organic. I’m switching everything to organic cotton now.

They can often be had at 20% off in places like End. and Selfridges.

I've got one of their sweatshirts and some t-shirts. The quality is good, the price is good and I like the sustainability. I bought my daughter one of their coats as well. I'll be buying from them again when I need more things.

I use Asket for the basics. Great quality for your money.

Thanks for the suggestion, had some colourful standard stuff and it’s not bad for the money. Community clothing are loopback, might grab one

At that price, I doubt it. It just says '100% cotton yarns from Portugal'

Yeah I've got a Merz 346 grey sweater. The quality is brilliant but they're quite a slim fit so be careful with the sizing. They also shrink a fair bit after the first couple of washes.

Thanks, Colourful Standard are £10 more expensive but use organic cotton. This is a deal breaker for me. They are made in Portugal too which reduces their carbon footprint.

I really like the pina cotton ones from Ralph Lauren that I’ve bought in Florida and Vegas over the years at the outlets for good prices. See them in department stores across the U.K. and Europe and the are quite expensive - around £120. Sometimes they have them in the Bicester outlet for between £40 and £60. Last time they didn’t have any so it’s pot luck.

The loop wheel construction looks really good. Might have to give one a go, will check the sizing first

I like the look of the Community Clothing ones, but they always seem to be out of stock in the size I want. I have a waxed cotton Harrington from them that's very nicely made, so I suspect the sweatshirts would be nice.

Has anyone tried Rapunui? They are made in the U.K. and using organic cotton and are really competitively priced.
