Thread: The Eddie's on ebay thread.

  1. #551
One thing that could facilitate buying for the true fans is to announce the next opening of the webshop not via the normal mailing list but only on the forum, limiting the crowd to forum members only. A bit like rock bands giving their fanclubs a first access in ticket sales.
I suggested this the other day, announce the opening in the bear pit, open midweek rather than a Sunday and limit the sales to a manageable number as normal. Gives forum members a better chance, still sell the same number of watches, no additional work for Eddie.

Done twice a year it would help some who've been left out with a chance.

People would just moan that the Hoovers got them then!

At least it would be a different moan!

I wouldn't pay it either. But for someone who wants one badly, and as its only available for a minute or so in the shop every few weeks the fact it's not sold out is immaterial.

This has been listed a couple of times and always ends early, then gets relisted.

I'd be interested to see what it would go for if the auction ran its full term.

It's £100 above retail. I choose not to have a computer or tv. My choice. I do have a phone but not going to get one online via Timefactors. Again my choice, so whats £100 premium once in a while to avoid the Rolexesque feeding fenzy.

That was basically my point. For someone who wants one but can't or won't join the Sunday melee it won't matter to them that it's not sold out, or that it's a ton over retail. I wouldn't pay it, but fully understand why someone would.

For the record, this was offered on SC for £320, no takers, but I needed to move it on. It went on eBay for a starting price of £350 which, after their fees, brings me back to about my £320 which is all I’m really after (bought a Hammy to replace the Smiths for £340 so trying to even the score on the two). If anyone wants to pay a bit more then fine, but I’m not anticipating much as they aren’t going for big money on eBay anymore (despite some crazy asking prices) and ebays pound of flesh is ridiculous these days.

Not suggesting you did anything wrong.

I hadn't seen that you had it for sale on the forum last week as you have edited the thread title, so that is good to know. I had only seem that you tried to sell it last year for a little more than that.

Best of luck, and honestly no need to delete the SC thread when putting it up on eBay, you can keep both (but it's usually a good idea to mention on the SC thread that you are listing on eBay at the same time).

I saw someone get into some hassle on H&V due to having a watch on here and eBay at the same time. As there were no takers on here I figured it safer and easier to just have it for sale on one platform only. If I find myself in that scenario again I may do as you suggest.

From the description this is hardly worn. Might help someone avoid the scrum this afternoon.

But still worth making a best offer on if interested especially if they sell out today.

Why do you think it the starting price? It’s for £750 or best offer. Once offers less than £750 are made the buy now option disappears and it becomes an auction. Presumably the reserve is at the £750 mark if that was the buy now.

There is no buy it now option other than having an offer accepted. £750 is the starting bid price.

Around that yes. EBay fees and PayPal will have around 13% of that unless it was listed during a low/zero fee offer.

Even at this price the Monopusher is great value against watches with similar movements.

I don’t totally get the mindset of the buyers. I see them in Europe on various sites and they can take a while to sell. The Everest is the quickest to sell but there was a commando tropical dial I was watching for 4 weeks before it sold and it was listed for less than rrp. And an expedition for 360 euros that sat there for weeks. Weird to see some spend closer to a grand.

Not eBay but chrono 24 if someone in Europe is looking as it’s a good price. It’s roughly what you’d pay after customs.

It's in Puerto Rico, no idea if that'd effect the customs charges much though.

    You serious?

Puerto Rico is a country whose mainland is located on the Iberian Peninsula, in Southwestern Europe, and whose territory also includes the Atlantic archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira. It features the westernmost point in mainland Europe, and its Iberian portion is bordered to the west and south by the Atlantic Ocean and to the north and east by Spain, the sole country to have a land border with Puerto Rico.

Easy to mistake Puerto Rico for Portugal many similarities other than a decent football team PR once got into the top 100

I know this is an ebay thread... what about Watchrecon? This is the last 7 days:

    https://www.watchrecon.com/?query=smiths&last_days=7

What I find of interest is the Zeno PRS-53 (?)

It was purchased directly from Zeno-Watch Basel on 11/17/21 and has a two-year warranty.

Here for sale is a Zeno-Watch Basel PRS-53. It is similar to (for example) the popular and long sold out Smiths Military PRS-29a by Timefactors.

    Is Zeno still selling these?

    It's not a 29a. It's a Precista PRS-53.
