Any recommendations for an indoor security light, with a timer?
Something like this:
But with a timer....
So it can come on and off to give the impression someone is at home.
A normal lamp plugged into a timer isn't suitable as a permanent fixture, as the intended location is the hallway.
Suggestions welcome!

Years ago I had an adaptor that you plugged in between light fitting and bulb, it had a setting for 2 or 4 hrs and after said interval (2 or 4 hrs) after its light-sensitive sensor detected that it was dark, it would come on, then go off again after dawn.

I have one of these programmed to switch the porch and landing lights on and off daily and it’s worked flawlessly on the original batteries for nearly 3 years. One downside is they don’t work with fancy slim profile switches as the gears can only reach ‘normal’ chunky switches. It sounds straightforward! However this is for my Mother's property, old Victorian build: narrow hallway and very low to the ground sockets mean the bulk this would take up presents a hazard, if plugged in permanently (which is the intention).
Thanks for the feedback, its the random setting that appeals given we wish to give the impression there is movement within the home. We use Philips hue lamps and set up programs in the app they’ve been faultless the last 4 years or so
Thanks, the Hue ecosystem is well reviewed and seems to work very well. It begins to push the budget however, on getting a simple security light for my Mother's home (as I assume you need a hub to control and communicate with devices). In any case, I think I'd want the Hue system first, before her!
(plus it's a light in the hallway we seek, because it's visible through the front door glass, to any outside, and the 3 pin socket is perfectly placed for it, not sure Hue would work here?)

Good to know, thank you. The hallway in question is narrow/can't house a table for a lamp. Hence the initial idea of plugging a light directly into the socket, per pic in OP, (no wires, cable, or traditional lamp) beyond the socket itself.
Seems a gadget like this doesn't exist, thanks all.
All I can think of that will be nice and relatively flush is still using the timer socket you posted, but with a simple slim lampshade and bulb attached to the wall higher up (with trunking to hide the wire). That could be done for a matter of quids and look half decent.
I have Philips hue lights as well as the Christmas lights on WiFi smart plugs.

That's ok what I use and can be set randomly too. Controlled from phone too.
