    New nato on speedie

I'm waiting on a nick mankey strap so thought I'd get a cheap blue nato while I'm waiting and for someone who doesn't like natos, I've got to say I'm quite liking this.
At least I'll actually wear it now, bracelets not the best and I've tried it on leather straps but not for me.

looks like a good match to me, is it the olympic one or the gemini speedmaster that you own?

I have had a couple of the standard ones, but have always craved something a bit different.

It's the tokyo 2020. Wanted a speedie for long time, finally got round to getting this last April and I think this is only the 3rd or 4th time it's been out of its box.
Love it now its on the nato so it's staying out and getting worn.

Speedies only look good on a NATO to me. Lovely watch.

They look better on Forstner "Komfit" JB mesh bracelet.

Looks a great watch. Where did you get it from? Some Japanese dealers on Chrono24 have fairly good prices even after factoring in vat

I like a simple black NATO, but also think a nice leather works well as does a bracelet if it’s period correct..

I did try it on a leather strap, looked OK but I'm just not a massive fan, didn't wear very well.
Really enjoying the nato though, might get a couple more colours whilst waiting for the mankey strap.

Japanese dealer from c24 and yes it was a good price even factoring in the vat and handling charges, it was cheaper than buying one in the UK/EU

All these threads on taking decent photos has made me have a play today.
Far too much 'pop' going on but it shows off the blue.

OP; gorgeous watch, ridiculous strap. Those massive bulky fabric jobs are for children. Now get it back on a nice bracelet where it belongs.

I rather like Eddies 2 piece offerings.

I think they look good on almost anything, but NATO straps sure do look perfect on the Speedy.

I once met somebody with a completely beaten up Speedy(he told me he bought it for practical reasons and didn't baby it ever) and equally beaten up Phoenix grey NATO. It looked amazing just as it was, proper tool watch and probably the best I've ever seen a Speedy look on somebody's wrist.

Nice piece and looks great on that NATO.

I do appreciate why people say put it on the bracelet, however I do equate them being worn on straps when stuck on a spacesuit also.. which is NATOish in nature.

I have my 50th Anniversary speedie on it's bracelet... and my older hesalite on a NATO.

Some cool pics on the thread.

Agreed; despite my NATO misgivings, there are definitely some amazing photos on this thread (all of them, actually!)

A big part of me agrees with you, I bought it wanting a nice dressy(ish) watch to wear on a bracelet.
As hard as I've tried, I can't get on with the bracelet, which is why ever since I've bought it I've worn it about three times.
Now it's on the nato I'm wearing it most days and I'm looking forward to receiving the nick mankey strap because from previous experience they wear really well and look really good.

The standard bracelet isn't great imo. Could never get it comfortable. Uncle Seiko do some great aftermarket bracelet options.

I've had a look at some of the uncle seiko ones, will probably treat myself once I've decided which style to go for
